About this Role:

The Participant Engagement team is responsible for helping retirement plan participants move from awareness to understanding, confidence, action, and ultimately better retirement outcomes. We partner across Product, Distribution, Retirement Solutions, Marketing, Client Businesses, Recordkeepers, Advisors, and Plan Sponsors to transform participant engagement into a strategic driver of participant outcomes, client value, and business growth.

We are seeking a Vice President, Participant Engagement to help shape and scale the future of participant experience and engagement across BlackRock's retirement and DC platform. This individual will play a key role in client-facing strategy, commercialization, sales enablement, participant experience innovation, and business development efforts supporting solutions such as LifePath Paycheck®, MyLifePath®, and future retirement offerings.

The ideal candidate is strategic, commercially minded, energized by working with clients, and passionate about growing business through exceptional participant experiences. This role requires strong relationship management skills, the ability to influence senior stakeholders, and a natural curiosity for identifying opportunities to improve participant outcomes while creating value for clients and the broader retirement ecosystem. Responsibilities:

Commercialization & Business Growth

  • Support the commercialization and growth of BlackRock's retirement solutions, including LifePath Paycheck®, MyLifePath®, and future participant experience initiatives.
  • Partner closely with Distribution, Product, and Client businesses to support prospecting, finalist presentations, consultant discussions, and client retention efforts.
  • Help position participant engagement and participant experience as key differentiators within BlackRock's retirement offering.
  • Identify opportunities to expand client adoption, deepen client relationships, and drive business growth through participant-focused solutions.
  • Translate complex retirement concepts into compelling client narratives and commercialization strategies.

Participant Experience Strategy & Innovation

  • Help define and evolve BlackRock's participant experience vision and engagement strategy.
  • Partner across Product, Technology, Marketing, and Distribution to enhance participant journeys and digital experiences.
  • Leverage participant insights, analytics, and behavioral trends to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Support development of scalable participant engagement models that can be deployed across clients and markets.
  • Champion participant-first thinking across retirement initiatives.

Campaigns, Education & Activation

  • Lead development and execution of participant engagement strategies designed to improve retirement readiness and retirement income understanding.
  • Support participant education campaigns, webinars, workshops, onsite events, and retirement income activation initiatives.
  • Develop and scale participant engagement playbooks that can be adapted across plan sponsors and participant populations.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to create participant-friendly content, communications, and educational resources.
  • Help ensure participant experiences remain relevant, actionable, and aligned with participant needs.

Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze participant engagement trends, digital experience metrics, campaign performance, and participant feedback.
  • Identify opportunities to improve participant experiences, increase engagement, and reduce decision friction.
  • Connect participant engagement activities to business outcomes, client value, and commercialization success.
  • Develop executive-ready reporting and insights that demonstrate impact and identify future opportunities.

AI-Enabled Productivity & Scale

  • Leverage Copilot and emerging AI technologies to improve content development, commercialization efforts, campaign planning, reporting, and participant engagement strategies.
  • Identify scalable ways to use AI to enhance participant experiences and team productivity.
  • Build repeatable frameworks, playbooks, and operating models that increase efficiency and support growth across the business.

  • Strong partnerships are built across Product, Distribution, Client businesses, Marketing, and external stakeholders.
  • Participant engagement capabilities continue to scale globally across clients, solutions, and markets.

Ideal Candidate

  • 7-10+ years of experience in retirement, participant engagement, participant experience, client strategy, commercialization, communications, sales enablement, consulting, or related fields.
  • Strong executive communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and build relationships across functions and seniority levels.
  • Experience working directly with clients, consultants, advisors, or business development teams.
  • Strong understanding of retirement plans, participant behavior, retirement readiness, and financial wellness concepts.
  • Commercially minded with enthusiasm for helping grow and scale a business.
  • Strategic thinker who can balance innovation with execution.
  • Experience translating complex concepts into compelling client and participant experiences.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities.
  • Passion for improving participant outcomes and advancing the future of participant experience.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to increase efficiency, scale, and effectiveness.

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$150,000.00 - USD$200,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
