About Arbor: Arbor is building an intelligent electricity marketplace to power an abundant electric future. As AI data centers drive a surge in electricity demand, millions of homes and businesses remain trapped with 20th century monopoly interfaces, overpaying by billions while cheap renewable energy goes to waste. Our AI-powered platform aggregates users to unlock wholesale pricing, automatically switches between the best rates, and optimizes usage to align with prices in real-time—delivering the same market advantages that were previously exclusive to Fortune 500 companies. We’ve raised over $20 million from leading investors and have saved over $7.5 million for tens of thousands of homes and businesses.

The Role: As Arbor’s Vice President of Engineering, you will report to our Founder & CEO, playing a pivotal role in leading our engineering team and advancing our platform to meet the rapidly evolving needs of our growing user base. You will be responsible for transforming product vision into high-quality, scalable software. You will drive technical strategy and execution, including leading our ongoing transformation into an AI-first platform and company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technology Strategy: Lead the technical vision and strategy for Arbor’s engineering efforts, particularly AI-driven innovation that transforms our product experience, platform, and company operations.

  • Leadership & Team Building: Manage and grow Arbor’s engineering teams, cultivating a strong performance culture and high impact product-minded engineering team.

  • Scaling & Architecture: Drive the architecture and scalability of Arbor’s platform, ensuring it can support increasing user demand and complex supplier-side integrations.

  • AI Strategy, Integration, and Augmentation: Own and lead our AI-first strategy across the business, tech stack, and engineering teams.

  • Cross-Functional Execution: Inform and integrate executive decisionmaking, and work closely with product and design teams, to ensure that technical decisions optimize for user needs, business goals, and long-term vision.

  • Growth Mindset: Lead the transition from a startup to hyperscaling engineering-driven organization, ensuring that engineering practices evolve to meet both the needs of the business and the emerging tech landscape.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role, ideally at a rapidly scaling startup or tech company.

  • Strong experience and deep interest in AI/ML integration, particularly how it can be applied to real-world applications and marketplace models.

  • Deep understanding of software architecture, cloud infrastructure, and building scalable, efficient platforms.

  • Ability to manage multiple teams, ensuring alignment across projects and priorities.

  • Experience with product-led growth and building platforms that can scale effectively across multiple user segments (consumers, SMBs, and large energy suppliers).

  • Hands-on experience with software development practices, including Agile methodologies, and an understanding of modern software engineering tools.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to balance short and long-term priorities, drive innovation, and motivate teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

  • Experience within regulated industries like fintech, health-tech, and others, along with Marketplace experience, is preferred.
