About Adaptive

Adaptive’s mission is to stop AI-powered cyberattacks.

In less than two years since commercialization, Adaptive has grown to over 1,500 customers including leading banks, technology companies, and healthcare organizations across the world.

Adaptive’s software suite protects teams from emerging threats like deepfakes, smishing, and AI-powered voice scams. We offer tools for email security, ai governance, security training, ai phishing simulations and compliance.

In December 2025, the company announced an $81M Series B led by NVIDIA and Bain Capital Ventures, with participation from Capital One Ventures, Citi Ventures, and continued support from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), the OpenAI Startup Fund, and Abstract Ventures. The round marked NVIDIA's first AI cybersecurity investment.

Adaptive was founded by Brian Long and Andrew Jones, repeat entrepreneurs who have built and scaled category-defining companies. Brian and Andrew previously co-founded Attentive, which grew to more than $500M in annual revenue and a $10B+ valuation, and TapCommerce, which was acquired by Twitter. Together, they bring deep experience building high-growth, product-led businesses at massive scale as Adaptive builds the security layer for the AI era.

The Role

We are hiring a VP of Finance to lead our finance and accounting function. This role owns financial planning and analysis, our overall budgeting and financial strategy, and board and investor reporting. You will report directly to the CEO to manage and grow the finance organization, and support the company through future financing rounds and transactions.

Responsibilities

Strategic finance

  • Own the company operating model, including revenue and expense forecasting, headcount planning, scenario analysis, and burn and runway management.

  • Lead financial planning, monthly variance analysis, and reporting on SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC payback, Magic Number).

  • Produce board and investor reporting, and support fundraising and diligence processes end to end.

  • Partner with GTM leadership on pricing, deal structures, commission plans, and vendor and contract negotiations.

Financial operations

  • Oversee accounting and the monthly close, GL policy, and revenue recognition.

  • Own billing, collections, A/R, treasury, and working-capital management across entities and currencies.

  • Oversee payroll and equity operations across the US, UK, and Australia, including commissions and bonus cycles.

  • Lead the company to GAAP maturity and a successful first audit.

Team and systems

  • Hire, develop, and lead the finance and accounting team.

  • Own the finance systems and their integrations, and drive automation and AI-assisted workflows across the function.

Qualifications
  • 8–12+ years of progressive finance experience, ideally including early-career exposure to investment banking, venture capital, or private equity, followed by senior leadership roles in strategic finance or FP&A within high-growth SaaS or AI.

  • Experience supporting capital raises end to end, including financial models, fundraising materials, data rooms, and investor relationships.

  • Experience building or professionalizing a finance function at a high-growth company.

  • Strong command of both FP&A and accounting operations, including close, controls, billing, and payroll.

  • Solid working knowledge of US GAAP, including SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606), accruals, and deferred revenue; experience owning a monthly close calendar.

  • Experience working with outside accountants and auditors, and preparing a company for its first audit.

  • Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency operations and SaaS contract structures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to executives, the board, and investors.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced startup environment.

What We Offer
  • The opportunity to lead the finance function from day one and build the team and processes that scale with the company.

  • Direct exposure to the CEO, CPO, and other founding executives.

  • An AI-native company with access to best-in-class tools and technology.

  • A culture that promotes continuous learning and growth.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive compensation and a fantastic office atmosphere.

  • Premium healthcare and wellness benefits.

  • Catered lunch in the NYC office, Monday - Friday

Environment
  • This role is located in New York City, requiring the candidate to work onsite five days a week.

  • You'll be part of a highly collaborative leadership team that values real-time communication and hands-on problem solving.
