The VP, Head of Brand for Retirement Solutions is responsible for leading and integrating TIAA's brand presence across media, sports marketing, creative studio, advertising, social media, and brand strategy — all in service of driving measurable business growth for the Retirement Solutions business. Reporting to the Retirement Solutions CMO within the Marketing & Communications organization, this leader will serve as the connective tissue between brand investment and business outcome, ensuring every dollar works harder and every partnership tells a coherent story.

A central mandate of this role is building a best-in-class marketing engine that maximizes the value of TIAA's growing partnership portfolio — including partnerships with the Big Ten, Ivy League, three professional golfers, the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia Marathon, and more — transforming those assets into integrated campaigns that deepen institutional client relationships and drive new business. TIAA's retirement business represents 87% of its business overall, making this a deeply consequential role for the organization.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Brand Strategy. Continue building on the enduring brand foundations of TIAA Retirement Solutions — Ensuring Today. Securing Tomorrow. Anchor brand development in a deep understanding of TIAA's audiences, partnering with peers to strengthen marketing strategies across Plan Sponsors, Consultants, Participants, and Wealth Eligible segments. Manage teams across advertising, social, and paid media to bring audience plans to life with clarity and conviction.
  • Partnerships & Sponsorship Activation. Maximize TIAA's collegiate and broader sports sponsorship portfolio by building a disciplined content engine that converts media assets, event integrations, and hospitality opportunities into compelling, multi-channel brand moments. Ensure that sponsorship investments are fully activated and connected to campaign and client engagement strategies.
  • Integrated Campaign Leadership. Drive the development of integrated campaign strategies that bridge upper-funnel brand building with mid- and lower-funnel business outcomes. Lead paid media efforts and agency, social, and performance marketing teams to ensure consistency and effectiveness across the full audience journey.
  • Creative Studio. Partner with the lead Creative Director to enhance the creative studio function across the US and India, setting the standard for quality, innovation, and on-brand execution across all content and advertising. Inspire internal and external creative partners to produce work that is both distinctive and purposeful.
  • Team Leadership. Lead a team of approximately 20 senior to mid-level associates with a management philosophy rooted in clarity, generosity, humanity, and high-caliber work. Build talent, create development pathways, and foster a culture where companionship and excellence coexist.
  • Executive Partnership. Serve as a senior brand advisor to Retirement Solutions leadership, translating business priorities into brand strategies and advocating internally for the role of brand in driving awareness, consideration, and client retention.
  • Governance & Compliance. Partner with legal, compliance, and risk stakeholders to uphold brand standards and protect TIAA's reputation across all channels and activations.
