SVP, Platform & Portfolio Management

BNY’s Strategic Partnerships & Investments team operates at the intersection of venture capital, innovation, and the firm’s long-term growth strategy. The Platform & Portfolio Manager will be responsible for building, activating, and managing BNY’s external innovation ecosystem—spanning venture capital firms, startups, and strategic partners—while also performing portfolio-level management across BNY’s strategic investments and partnerships. We’re seeking a future team member for the role of SVP, Platform & Portfolio Management to join our team. The position is based in New York, NY.

This role combines ecosystem development, portfolio management, communications, and execution, translating external market activity into measurable: 

Venture Capital, Startup & Ecosystem Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with venture capital firms, accelerators, incubators, startups, and broader ecosystem partners.
  • Support investment and partnership sourcing, market intelligence, and collaboration opportunities aligned with BNY’s strategic priorities.
  • Act as a connector between portfolio companies, venture partners, BNY business units, clients, and internal stakeholders to drive value creation.
  • Monitor ecosystem activity and emerging trends, translating insights into actionable recommendations for investment and partnership teams.

Strategic Collaboration & Internal Enablement

  • Partner closely with partnership and investment professionals, innovation leaders, and business units to align ecosystem and portfolio activity with firm-wide priorities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engagement to ensure clarity of ownership, timely execution, and effective follow-through on partnerships, pilots, and strategic initiatives.
  • Surface best practices, resources, and learnings across the portfolio to support consistent, scalable engagement.

Portfolio & Performance Management

  • Facilitate ongoing portfolio management across BNY’s strategic investment and partnership portfolio, ensuring consistent engagement, progress tracking, and value realization.
  • Work with internal teams and external partners to define objectives, KPIs, and milestones, and track progress against them.
  • Define, track, and report on metrics and goals across teams and initiatives, translating performance data into clear, decision-ready insights for senior leadership.
  • Prepare quarterly performance reports and executive-ready materials assessing portfolio performance, team effectiveness, and progress against strategic objectives.

Communications & Platform Management

  • Own internal communications across stakeholders, ensuring alignment on priorities, progress, and outcomes through regular updates, briefings, newsletters, and leadership materials.
  • Manage external communications related to the ecosystem and portfolio, including coordination with partners and development of externally facing content in collaboration with Communications and Marketing.
  • Help shape and maintain BNY’s ecosystem narrative and positioning with venture, startup, and partner audiences.

Events & Ecosystem Activation

  • Plan and execute high-impact internal and external events, including leadership briefings, VC roundtables, ecosystem convenings, portfolio showcases, demo days, and partner engagements.
  • Represent BNY at relevant industry, venture, and innovation events to deepen relationships and expand the firm’s ecosystem presence.
  • Ensure events are outcomes-driven, with clear objectives tied to sourcing, collaboration, and strategic insight.
  • Document team accomplishments and map towards the team yearly goals
  • Help our team of managing directors prepare quarterly business reviews and support operational maintenance

Qualifications & Experience

  • 6–10+ years of experience in venture capital, corporate venture, strategic partnerships, innovation, ecosystem management, or startup engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience working with VC firms, startups, and portfolio companies, with an established network preferred.
  • Strong understanding of venture markets, emerging technology trends, and how startups engage with large financial institutions.
  • Experience in portfolio management, KPI tracking, and executive reporting within an investment or partnerships context.
  • Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder environments across internal teams and external partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing executive-level materials.
  • Strong project management and execution capabilities; able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $102,000 and $185,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. 
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
