As a Senior Lead AI Engineer, you will develop AI solutions, partner with cross-functional teams, optimize LLM performance, and contribute to the AI vision at Capital One.

Design, train, evaluate, and deploy large-scale AI foundation models (LLMs, vision, graph, sequential). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to productionize research, optimize training/inference, and translate research into customer-facing products. Drive applied research agenda, publish results, and contribute to platform and tooling.

Lead engineering teams to design, build, and scale back-end microservices and ML platform infrastructure. Collaborate with product managers and data scientists to deploy cloud-based solutions, mentor engineers, evaluate code, and ensure regulatory and operational needs are met using modern cloud, container, database, and ML tooling.

Research and develop large-scale AI foundation models (design, training, evaluation, validation, deployment). Collaborate with engineers, product and ML teams to apply state-of-the-art methods, optimize training/inference, and translate research into production AI-powered products. Lead and grow an AI engineering organization building foundation-model training and LLM-powered production systems. Own design, deployment, optimization, evaluation, governance, and observability of scalable AI platforms; make build-vs-buy decisions across open source and SaaS AI technologies; drive technical vision and mentor engineering teams to deliver responsible, high-performance AI capabilities.

Build, validate, and implement machine learning models on large, multi-source datasets using Python, cloud, and big-data tools. Partner with engineers and product managers to deliver analytics products, translate technical results into business impact, and apply statistical methods (classification, clustering, time series, deep learning, sentiment analysis).

Lead design, build, deploy, and support foundation model training and LLM inference systems, similarity search, guardrails, evaluation, and observability. Optimize production AI for scalability, cost, latency, and throughput. Collaborate cross-functionally, mentor engineers, and shape long-term foundational AI technical vision and roadmap.
