The Staff Software Engineer will lead architectural design and delivery of critical systems, ensuring performance and efficiency at scale, while mentoring others in the engineering community.

Build and maintain eBPF-based network monitoring instrumentation in the Datadog Agent, debug production incidents spanning kernel/eBPF/agent runtime, research and prototype solutions for high-throughput, low-latency network observability, and provide technical input to product and architecture decisions.

Design and scale high-traffic services, resolve production incidents, deploy features (using feature flags), plan team projects, and improve service performance and architecture at large scale.

The role involves developing AI-assisted product experiences for Datadog by building systems for chat, remediations, and codefixes, alongside collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance user outcomes.

Lead design and implementation of LLM observability features: prototype and scale product capabilities for tracing, evaluating, and debugging generative AI systems. Work cross-functionally to influence architecture, mentor engineers, prioritize customer pain points, and drive product and engineering decisions for reliable, high-performance AI observability.

Partner with Field and Product teams to design and implement LLM observability architectures, build proofs-of-concept, produce technical collateral, and advise customers to drive adoption and product feedback.

Lead a team building production systems for code understanding and automated code changes. Drive technical direction, partner cross-functionally, maintain evaluation/monitoring pipelines, ensure production readiness (on-call, SLIs/SLOs, postmortems), own hiring and career growth, and uphold engineering rigor for data pipelines, model inputs, reproducibility, and CI/CD.
