File this one under “Reasons to love NYC:” Live XYZ — a live map that lists all of the coolest events happening on every block in Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs — just announced some new enhancements to make sure you’re always having fun.

The app recently partnered with local neighborhood organizations like the Union Square Partnership, Lower East Side Partnership and Greenwich Village Chelsea Chamber of Commerce to keep its finger on the pulse of everything going on in the city.

“New York is a city full of life — the premier showcase of urban vitality,” said co-founder and chairman Robert Levitan. “With so many different events happening at every time of day or night, NYC is the ideal place for something like this.”

Currently, the app aggregates all the events happening at more than 140,000 local businesses around the city. That list includes cafes, restaurants, entertainment venues, parks and other local attractions that you’ve probably yet to explore — but the makers of the app have.

“We walked every street in the city to identify and index each venue, from coffee cart to concert hall,” said Levitan. “The data we aggregate is organized by machine learning systems, and then delivered to users through a beautiful and intuitive app design.”

Say you want to check out a live show later tonight. You can either scan the map view for music venues in the neighborhood of your choice, or you can pull up the search bar and set distance, day and time parameters for shows near you. In the results, you’ll find all of the events’ details, including the address, ticket fees and photos of the interior.

If you’d rather check out an event that doesn’t cost money, try typing “free” into the search bar. You’ll find a slew of nearby establishments that are giving away everything from a slice of pizza with a drink order to free soap at your next laundromat visit.

“Our goal is to increase the interaction people have with the world around them by introducing them to new places and experiences,” said Levitan. “New York is a walking city — one where every single business on every block in every neighborhood matters to its fabric.”

The app was founded by Levitan, along with CEO Jason Greenwald, CTO Henry Clifford and Head of Global Mapping Jimmy Glaser, all native New Yorkers. It’s currently only available on iOS and for NYC, with future plans to expand to cities across the U.S.
