McDonald’s acquires Dynamic Yield to personalize drive-thru
Dynamic Yield, an NYC-based startup that works with brands to deliver a personalized digital experience, was acquired by McDonald’s. The deal, which was the fast food chain’s largest acquisition in 20 years, will help customize the drive-thru experience depending on trending menu items, weather and more. The startup’s technology will also be used for the chain’s self-serve kiosks and mobile apps. [Read more]
The Gender Spectrum Collection launches to make stock photos more inclusive
Broadly, Vice Media’s feminist channel, launched a stock image library featuring gender-inclusive photography. The Gender Spectrum Collection includes a variety of free photos that go beyond the often-cheesy stock photos brands are used to. Models are trans or non-binary and represent a number of different demographics. [Read more]
Lyft announces new driver-focused initiatives
In partnership with Lyft’s Driver Advisory Council, the rideshare company created several initiatives to benefit drivers.They’re offering benefits that give drivers instant access to earnings, vehicle service discounts and lower fuel costs. Direct-to-consumer mattress retailer Casper is reportedly looking to go public. According to a Reuters exclusive, the company is looking for underwriters for their IPO. The company’s valuation stands at $920 million. [Read more]

Applicaster, a cloud-based platform for app development, raised $20 million in funding, bringing its total amount raised to $30.5 million. The round was led by Viola Growth, with participation from 83 North, Pitango, Saban Ventures and Planven Investments. [Read more]
