Big names and large funding rounds made headlines last week in NYC. Read on to learn more about who’s acquiring, who’s hiring and which media company just announced its move into the metaverse. This is the Built In NYC Weekly Refresh.

Alma raked in $130M. Teletherapy platform Alma raked in $130 million last week in its Series D raise to fuel the availability of mental health services that are covered by insurance. This move is important to the company as it aims to combat the lack of accessibility and affordability to mental health services. Skye was featured in Future 5 series. Career coaching platform Skye is urging job-seekers to reimagine the process of finding guidance on their next career move. On the Skye platform, job-seekers and those established in their careers can find a career coach that is matched to them based on their needs and interests. TCGplayer entered an acquisition agreement with eBay. Tech-fueled trading collectibles platform TCGplayer announced it will soon be acquired by e-commerce giant eBay. TCGplayer’s tech will integrate with eBay and allow the e-commerce giant to have omnichannel capabilities, like order fulfillment and cart optimization, on its platform. According to a company statement from eBay, the acquisition has a total value of up to approximately $295 million. [Built In NYC]

IHeartMedia entered the metaverse. Radio broadcasting and streaming service provider iHeartMedia announced it has entered the metaverse with the creation of iHeartLand. The digital landscape was created in collaboration with Atlas Creative, a game development studio that used a toolset from Fortnite Creative to build out the platform, according to a company statement. The digital land also features a State Farm Park that users can visit to view music and podcasting events. [Built In NYC]

Rokt entered a partnership with Uber and AMC. E-commerce marketing and technology startup Rokt announced it entered a partnership with Uber and AMC theaters last week. Rokt’s machine learning technology is designed to fuel additional revenue for Uber when customers checkout. AMC Rokt’s technology will be used to drive revenue for the company’s online and mobile channels. In addition to the partnership, Rockt is hiring for nearly 40 roles, many of which can be accessed on the company’s Built In profile. [MTC]

Jackpocket named a new chief of staff. Lottery app Jackpocket named Caitlin Stojanovich as its first chief of staff. The move comes as Jackpocket plans to accelerate company growth and fuel product expansion. Prior to Jackpocket, Stojanovich held the same role at ADS, a defense and government supply company.
