Tax auditing software provider Basis recently announced a $100 million Series B funding round at a $1.15 billion valuation. The company will put its new capital from lead investor Accel and others toward further developing its agentic AI platform. It will also expand its team across engineering and machine learning.
Basis wants to create AI agents that spend hours at a time working on complex accounting workflows and deliver accurate results. The agents will complete end-to-end tasks for firms’ client accounting services, tax and audit practices. Basis recently demonstrated an AI agent that autonomously completed a 1065 tax return.
“Our sole focus is to equip accountants with the highest performing, most accurate AI for accounting and to empower firms to drive new growth, provide higher-value service and improve accountant quality of life across every one of their practices,” Matt Harpe, Basis CEO and co-founder, said in a statement.
