Datadog, a company offering observability and security solutions for cloud applications, announced its acquisition of Metaplane, a machine learning-powered monitoring platform. The merger will allow Datadog to fuel further expansion into the data observability space.

Metaplane provides an end-to-end platform that leverages monitoring and column-level lineage to prevent, detect and resolve data quality issues. Its acquisition will help Datadog equip data teams with actionable insights, allowing them to make an impact across their entire data stack.

Data observability tools continuously monitor a company’s underlying data for changes and failures. Datadog’s SaaS solution integrates and automates enterprise tasks like infrastructure and application performance monitoring and cloud security. Following this acquisition Metaplane will operate as Metaplane by Datadog and continue supporting new and existing customers.
