Call9 raises $24M Series B funding round

Healthcare tech startup Call9 raised $24 million in a Series B funding round led by Redmile, with participation from Index Ventures, Refactor, YCombinator, Western Technology Investment and others. The company, which connects emergency care providers with nursing home residents in need of services, was originally based in Silicon Valley before moving its offices to Brooklyn. The investment will be used to enhance the platform and recruit care specialists. [Press release]

 

Cornell Tech opens campus on Roosevelt Island

Cornell Tech opened a new campus that will be home to the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute, an academic partnership between the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and Cornell University. The Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship hosted its first Demo Day in New York City, featuring the seven student startup teams that were involved in the accelerator program over the summer.
