Performs deceased-donor abdominal organ procurements for transplantation and research while providing clinical leadership throughout the donation process. Advises on donor suitability and complex cases, communicates with transplant centers, supports investigations, and ensures regulatory compliance. Leads training, competency assessment, educational content development, clinical standards, audits, and performance improvement initiatives. Requires 24/7 on-call availability and travel to donor hospitals.

Coordinates organ allocation and utilization for local and imported organs, ensuring compliance with OPTN policies and applicable regulations. Evaluates referrals, communicates donor information to transplant centers and UNOS, supports allocation decisions, coordinates operating room timing and transportation logistics, and arranges shipment of blood, tissue-typing materials, and biopsies. The role also supports donor center calls and referral entry while maximizing organ utilization and protecting patient safety.

The Donation Coordinator evaluates and manages organ and tissue donors in hospital settings, collaborates with physicians and transplant teams, supports donor families, coordinates recovery procedures, and maintains regulatory documentation. The role provides onsite clinical leadership, participates in quality improvement, trains colleagues, and represents LiveOnNY with transplant centers. It requires an RN license, hospital experience, clinical assessment skills, and travel throughout the service area.
