Teams at New York Legal Assistance Group

Supervise immigration attorneys and paralegals serving hospital-based legal clinics; oversee case strategies, training, scheduling, grants, reporting, stakeholder coordination, and a small caseload. Handle complex immigration matters, benefits access, medical deferred action, stays of removal, and prosecutorial discretion requests. Represent LegalHealth in trainings, policy initiatives, legislative and stakeholder engagements, and internal committees while supporting program protocols and team coverage.

Supports attorneys in immigration removal defense and affirmative applications by screening clients, collecting documents, preparing forms and evidence, assisting with translation and interpretation, conducting interviews, managing case data, drafting documents, coordinating referrals, and supporting legal clinics and workshops. The role requires trauma-informed client interaction, high-volume case management, Spanish or another community language, and a commitment to social justice.

Provides trauma-informed legal intake, safety planning, referrals, litigation support, document preparation, research, victim compensation claims, translation and interpretation assistance, case maintenance, data entry, grant reporting, and client advocacy for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence. Collaborates with attorneys, internal teams, and community partners serving underserved populations in family, matrimonial, and immigration matters.
