Vestmark, Inc. Employee Perspectives

What makes you feel supported and valued at Vestmark on a day-to-day basis?

What makes me feel supported and valued at Vestmark really comes down to the people and the culture we’ve built together. My teammates and leadership are consistently willing to answer questions, collaborate on challenges, or simply talk through what someone is working on. There’s a genuine sense that no question is too small, and that curiosity is encouraged. That kind of environment makes it easier to learn, grow, and take ownership of your work.

Vestmark is also one of the most transparent organizations I’ve worked for. Our quarterly all-hands meetings — lovingly referred to as “VBash” — provide clear insights into company goals, priorities and performance. Understanding the bigger picture helps connect our day-to-day work to broader business outcomes. It gives teams clarity around why their projects matter and where to focus their energy.

On a lighter note, I also appreciate the sense of celebration that follows each meeting. The VBash gathering is a chance to recognize accomplishments and connect with fellow “Vestmarkians” across departments. It reinforces that we’re all contributing to shared success, even if we don’t work together every day.

How does your team prevent burnout while still delivering meaningful work?

“Work smarter, not harder” is something we actively try to live by on our team. In any testing organization, there’s a risk of burnout when work becomes repetitive. Manually executing the same regression suites or reviewing similar test cases release after release can get tedious. To address that, Vestmark has invested in AI-driven tools and, just as importantly, has given us the time and support to learn how to use them effectively. We now leverage AI to help draft test cases, accelerate execution, and analyze results. Reducing that manual, repetitive effort allows our engineers to focus on deeper exploratory testing, risk analysis and improving overall quality strategy, work that’s far more engaging and impactful.

Equally important is realistic planning. Clear company priorities help us focus on the initiatives that matter most, rather than spreading ourselves too thin. We’re thoughtful about scoping and setting achievable timelines for each project so quality isn’t sacrificed for speed. By limiting unnecessary context switching and aligning on what “done” truly means, we create a pace that’s sustainable. That balance enables us to deliver meaningful work without burning out.

What’s one way Vestmark shows appreciation that genuinely resonates with employees?

One of the ways Vestmark shows appreciation that truly resonates with me is through consistent, everyday recognition. It’s often the smaller gestures that, when combined, create a meaningful impact. We’re encouraged to acknowledge one another publicly, whether it’s for delivering a complex project, stepping up to help a teammate or learning a new technology. Those “cheers” are shared frequently, and they reinforce that effort, collaboration and growth are noticed. That kind of peer recognition helps build a strong sense of community and pride in our work.

Vestmark also supports causes that matter to employees. The company organizes volunteer opportunities with local organizations, making it easy for us to give back in a tangible way. Having the chance to support meaningful initiatives alongside colleagues strengthens our connections beyond day-to-day work.

And sometimes, appreciation shows up in the littlest things. Recently, Vestmark partnered with an animal rescue to bring in puppies for employees to spend time with. It may sound simple, but moments like that create genuine joy and stress relief. I can’t think of a better way to combat burnout than with warm puppy snuggles!

What stuck out to you the most about Vestmark Inc.’s culture during the hiring process, and what was it specifically that convinced you to join?

The first thing that stood out was how warm and approachable everyone felt. Every conversation flowed naturally, and the interviewers came across as both skilled and thoughtful in how they engaged with me. I felt they were interested in who I was as a person, not just checking off technical requirements. That balance of professionalism and authenticity left a strong impression.

What ultimately convinced me to join Vestmark was the depth of the conversations. The interviews went beyond technical evaluations and explored how I reason through problems, how I collaborate and how I think about engineering work as a whole. They were curious about my approach, not only my code. We discussed broader technical concepts, lessons learned and challenges the team was excited to solve, which helped me picture what day-to-day life might look like here and how I could contribute. By the end, I felt a strong alignment with both the people and the culture. Everyone I spoke with was knowledgeable, thoughtful and enthusiastic about their work. That combination made the decision to join Vestmark feel natural and made me feel like this was a place where I could grow and thrive.

How does the company culture encourage peers to connect with each other either virtually, in person or both?

Although I have only been at Vestmark for a few months, I have already seen how intentional the company is about helping people connect across teams and locations. One of the first experiences that stood out to me was attending Vbash, our quarterly company meeting. Meeting colleagues in person, especially those I had only interacted with online, made it much easier to build real working relationships. Sharing even a brief conversation face-to-face adds a sense of familiarity that carries over into future collaborations. After the event, communicating with these individuals felt more natural and relaxed.

Vestmark also supports connection, regardless of where employees work. The new-hire training sessions are a great example. They bring together people from different offices and backgrounds, creating a shared foundation. What I appreciated most was that the training didn’t just explain technical concepts; it encouraged questions and open discussion. That made the experience feel collaborative rather than strictly instructional.

What opportunities are available for employees to level up their careers?

Vestmark offers a healthy variety of opportunities for employees to grow technically and professionally. One of the most helpful resources has been the extensive documentation on Confluence. It covers everything, from business background to detailed technical explanations, and it has been valuable as I continue learning about the systems and decisions behind our product. Being able to explore topics at my own pace has helped me deepen my understanding.

Beyond documentation, there is an active culture of sharing insights and discussing new technologies. Slack channels often highlight conversations about tools, best practices and emerging trends like AI. Participating in or even simply reading these discussions often sparks new ideas and encourages continuous learning.

The onboarding buddy program has also been an important part of my early growth. Having someone guide me through the initial stages, answer questions, and provide context made the transition into the company much smoother. The mentorship sets a strong foundation and helps new employees integrate quickly.

What would you tell someone considering applying to your company?

What I’d tell someone considering applying to Vestmark is that there’s a real amount of trust placed in people here and with that trust comes responsibility. One of the reasons I’ve stayed is because Vestmark gives people the room to lead, not just execute. Vestmark works hard to put the right people in the right roles so they can succeed for the company, for their teams and for themselves. Leadership genuinely wants you to grow, because when you succeed, the business moves forward with you. That said, you do have to work for it. You need to be hungry for knowledge, willing to take ownership and focused on outcomes. There’s rarely only one right answer here. People who do well are the ones who stay curious, stay adaptable and focus on solving the real problem, not just following the expected path.

What surprised you after joining?

What surprised me most after joining Vestmark was how strong the collaboration is across the company. In a lot of organizations, teams operate more independently, but here success really comes from how well engineering and leadership stay connected, along with a shared focus on building secure, well-run systems. I also expected the technical challenges around platform transformation and incorporating AI into cloud native solutions, but what stood out was how open people are to exchanging ideas and working through problems together. That level of alignment was a surprise and makes it easier to move quickly and make better decisions. This type of engineering problem solving is why I got into the business in the first place. It is fun! Another thing that stood out is the balance between where we are today and where we are trying to go. There is still a startup like energy here, with room for new ideas and creative problem solving, but with a clear eye on the future state and making sure we are building the best house on the block.

What makes your culture motivating?

What makes the culture at Vestmark motivating is that people who do well here are genuinely passionate about what they are building and hungry to keep learning. There is an expectation that you understand the “why” behind what you are doing, not just the task in front of you, which keeps the work engaging and constantly evolving. That carries into a strong sense of ownership, where people take pride in what they build and how they contribute and it shows up in the quality of the work and the willingness to step in and improve things. It is not a place where you can coast. You need to want it and bring that energy if you are going to thrive. At the same time, it is a team first environment, with a shared understanding that the best outcomes come from putting the team and the client ahead of individual recognition. That combination of being hungry to learn, owning what you build and showing up with a positive, solutions focused approach is what keeps the culture motivating and the work moving forward.
