Teams at Viam

Software engineering interns collaborate with experienced engineers on Viam’s robotics and cloud computing platform. Interns work across the stack, contribute to production software, receive mentorship, learn engineering best practices, and test software with robotics hardware. The role is an in-person, 10–12 week summer 2027 internship in New York City for students pursuing computer science or related degrees.

The Chief of Staff partners with the CEO on high-priority research, analysis, strategic initiatives, company planning, leadership meetings, board and investor communications, and cross-functional problem solving. The role tracks key company initiatives, surfaces organizational misalignment, translates customer and market insights into action, and creates strategy memos and communications. It requires strong financial and analytical skills, technical fluency, excellent writing, sound judgment, high ownership, and comfort operating in ambiguous environments.

Own the roadmap, strategy, architecture decisions, developer experience, and adoption metrics for a core Viam platform area. Lead capabilities from problem definition through customer deployment, including migrations and deprecations. Partner with engineering, senior leadership, customers, and forward-deployed engineers to identify bottlenecks and shape platform direction. The role requires software engineering experience, strong technical credibility, developer-facing product expertise, market research skills, and interest in hardware or physical systems.
