About Redwood Materials

Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea: the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist. They just need to come back. Today Redwood is the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America — recovering, refining, and redeploying critical minerals from end-of-life batteries back into the supply chain. On the energy side, Redwood has deployed the largest second-life battery project in the world, delivering power to AI data centers in months rather than years using proprietary energy architecture engineered entirely in-house. The company is profitable, the market it operates in is projected to grow 20 to 50 times over the next decade, and Redwood is the only company with the supply chain, the technology, and the operational scale to lead it.

Position Summary:

Redwood Materials is seeking a Business Development Account Manager to support and grow our partnerships with battery cell manufacturers. In this role, you will build strong relationships with key cell manufacturing partners, understand their needs, and develop tailored solutions that align with Redwood's strategic goals. You will work daily with sales, customer operations, product management, logistics, and packaging teams to deliver a seamless partner experience. You will also monitor account performance, manage expectations, and identify opportunities for growth. This is an independent, relationship-driven role for someone who wants to help shape how Redwood works with battery cell manufacturers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key battery cell manufacturing partners, understanding their production needs and ensuring exceptional service
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for partner accounts, coordinating across sales, customer operations, product management, logistics and packaging
  • Identify opportunities for account growth and collaborate with BD Managers and partners on strategies that align with their goals
  • Address and resolve partner concerns promptly and effectively to maintain a high level of satisfaction
  • Monitor account performance and manage partner expectations
  • Provide regular updates and reports to partners and internal stakeholders on partnership progress, performance, and key metrics
  • Contribute to improving Redwood's business development processes and strategies

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; a technical background (such as chemistry or engineering) is preferred but not required
  • 2+ years of experience in sales, business development, consulting, technology, or technical sales
  • Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or lithium-ion battery industries preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for global account management
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently
  • People skills to build good relationships with customers, even when the situation is tough
  • Smart, scrappy, entrepreneurial, and science-loving, with a bias for action and a lot of grit
  • An ability to have fun while tackling hard problems!
  • Nice to have: Fluency in Korean or Japanese
  • A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!

Working Conditions:

  • Travel up to 25% of the time for partner meetings, site tours, and other business needs

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
