The New York City Housing Authority is seeking an Accountant in the Development Control Unit of the Revenue & Receivables Division.
The duties and responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
- Review the monthly Project Monthly Summary (PMS) upload files from RCS to Oracle.
- Reconcile daily rent collection receipts to the amounts posted to the tenant accounts.
- Review and analyze tenant account receivables file, calculate the monthly allowance for bad debt and make necessary recommendations on the allowance rates.
- Prepare and enter accounting entries in Oracle General Ledger.
- Perform intricate daily and monthly rent collection reconciliations.
- Reconcile daily and monthly cash activities between the Authority’s Financial records and the general ledger.
- Reconcile various General Ledger accounts.
- Coordinate with various units to ensure accuracy of financial transactions recorded and reconciled.
- Prepare financial and quantitative analysis reports for various stakeholder.
- Reconcile revenue clearing accounts.

ACCOUNTANT - 40510
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting and auditing; or
2. A valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license.
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, at least one year of experience as an Accountant - Assignment Level I or at least two years of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience.
