About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on accountant who ideally has been the number two on a monthly close and an annual audit, and who is ready to step up. You'll own the close, work directly with our auditors, and help us rebuild our accounting workflows around AI and automation. You'll report to the SVP, Head of Finance.

Why CompStak

CompStak is the leading crowdsourced data platform for commercial real estate, giving brokers, appraisers, and institutional investors access to lease and sale comp data they can't get anywhere else. As CRE increasingly shifts from relationship-driven guesswork to data-backed decision-making, CompStak sits at the center of that shift, and we're investing heavily in our New Business team to capture it. Joining now means getting in early on that growth, with real ownership over your territory and a direct line to shaping how the team scales.

What You'll Do

  • Own the monthly close: journal entries, reconciliations, accruals and the close checklist, working toward a faster, more automated close
  • Own cash and bank reconciliations, payroll and benefits reconciliations (Rippling, Justworks), and lease accounting (ASC 842)
  • Build and run AI-assisted workflows for reconciliations, flux commentary and recurring entries, with human review and audit-ready documentation. Examples include LLM assistants (Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini), NetSuite's AI features, and close automation tools (FloQast, BlackLine, Numeric)
  • Be the day-to-day contact for the annual audit and PBC requests
  • Manage revenue accounting between Ordway and NetSuite, including deferred revenue
  • Oversee our two-person Belgrade accounting team, including intercompany accounting and consolidation
  • Own recurring compliance: sales tax (Avalara), 1099s, state filings and 401(k) remittances
  • Recommend improvements to our controls, policies and controllership as we grow

What We're Looking For

  • 5–8 years in accounting, including time as the number two on a close and audit (senior accountant, assistant controller or accounting manager), at a SaaS company or in public accounting
  • Experience managing or mentoring accountants, including remote or international team members
  • Strong US GAAP, including ASC 606 and ASC 842
  • Multi-entity or foreign subsidiary consolidation experience
  • Hands-on NetSuite experience; Ordway, Ramp and Avalara a plus
  • Has used AI or automation tools to cut real time out of accounting work, with examples you can show us
  • CPA, or progress toward it, preferred
  • A builder's mindset and a willingness to do work at every level

Benefits:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Commuter benefits
  • Long-term disability and life insurance
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Birthday day off
  • 12 weeks parental leave
  • 2 weeks Work From Anywhere in summer months
  • Weekly office lunch and breakfast
