A premier licensed Adult Home and Assisted Living Program (ALP) facility located in a scenic beachfront community in Queens County, New York, this establishment provides a warm, compassionate "home away from home" for adults seeking supportive living. With a capacity of approximately 172 beds—including a dedicated ALP section—it offers personalized care in a comfortable, well-maintained four-story building right off the boardwalk. The focus is on fostering a diverse, engaging resident community through daily recreational programs, holiday celebrations, three nutritious hot meals plus snacks served in a spacious dining room, housekeeping, laundry services, and a full range of personal, medical, and nursing support to promote independence, well-being, and belonging. The hand-selected team is dedicated to delivering exceptional, resident-centered care with the utmost compassion, emphasizing comfort, community connection, and high standards of service in a supportive environment.

The Administrator serves as the chief executive leader of the facility, overseeing all aspects of daily operations, regulatory compliance, resident care quality, and financial performance. This hands-on leadership role ensures the organization meets or exceeds New York State Department of Health (DOH) standards for Adult Homes and ALP facilities while driving operational excellence, staff development, census growth, and a positive culture that prioritizes resident satisfaction and retention. The Administrator acts as the primary point of contact with regulatory bodies, leads the management team, and champions continuous improvement to maintain a safe, welcoming, and high-performing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct overall facility operations, including business planning, resident census development and management, patient flow, budgeting, and full fiscal accountability.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all applicable local, state (including New York State DOH), and federal regulations governing Adult Homes and Assisted Living Programs; prepare for and lead successful surveys and inspections.
  • Maintain all required licenses, certifications, permits, and regulatory documentation; serve as the primary liaison with the New York State Department of Health.
  • Oversee and deliver exceptional resident care aligned with state operational standards, addressing the total regimen needs of residents, including those with medical and/or mental health conditions.
  • Promote resident retention and satisfaction by engaging directly with residents and families, promptly addressing concerns, resolving issues, and supporting community-building and engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate on and actively support census development, marketing, and sales efforts to sustain and grow occupancy.
  • Supervise building maintenance and ensure the physical plant complies with all state regulatory standards for safety and functionality.
  • Provide direct leadership and supervision to department heads and staff across clinical and non-clinical areas; conduct performance evaluations, implement disciplinary actions (up to and including termination), and foster a professional, positive workplace culture.
  • Drive quality assurance, performance improvement programs, and ongoing initiatives to enhance resident care and operational efficiency.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with residents, families, visitors, staff, and external partners to uphold a compassionate, service-oriented atmosphere.
QualificationsRequired:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive management or leadership experience in an assisted living facility, adult home, nursing home, skilled nursing facility, or similar senior living community.
  • In-depth knowledge of New York State laws, rules, and regulations specific to Adult Homes and Assisted Living Programs (ALP).
  • Proven experience working with regulatory agencies, maintaining compliance, and successfully navigating inspections/surveys.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead both clinical and non-clinical teams effectively, with strong disciplinary and performance management skills.
  • Experience supporting individuals with medical needs and/or mental health conditions in a residential setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact compassionately and effectively with residents of varying medical, cognitive, and communication capacities.
  • Strong organizational abilities, business acumen, and capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Flexibility for evenings, weekends, on-call responsibilities, and occasional local travel as required.
  • Compassionate, resident-centered mindset with a genuine dedication to exceptional care and service.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree such as MBA (healthcare focus), MHA (with gerontology emphasis), or equivalent.
  • More than five (5) years of increasingly responsible operations management experience in senior living.
  • Background in hospitality, customer service, or related fields that enhance resident experience.
  • Additional expertise in serving populations with complex medical and mental health needs.
Compensation:

We offer a highly competitive salary in the range of $150,000 – $185,000 annually, highly dependent on experience, qualifications, and proven track record in similar roles. The package also includes a performance-based bonus opportunity, along with a comprehensive benefits suite (health insurance, retirement savings options, paid time off, and additional perks) designed to support long-term professional growth and well-being in this rewarding leadership position.
