Who We Are

Tomo is a digital mortgage company on a mission to eliminate the greed and complexity in lending, helping homebuyers save thousands of dollars. Our AI-driven customer experience makes the lending process faster, less frustrating, and more affordable. By passing these savings directly to homebuyers, we eliminate excessive fees and inflated rates that cost Americans billions each year. Backed by top-tier venture investors, including Ribbit, Citi Ventures, NFX and Progressive Insurance, Tomo is poised to become one of the most valuable fintech startups of our generation.

About the Role

We’re seeking a hands-on Growth Marketing Manager who thrives on rapid experimentation and data-driven decision making. You understand that great performance marketing is equal parts art and science—blending analytical rigor with creative intuition to build repeatable acquisition engines with strong unit economics.

This role is 100% dedicated to one thing: making Tomo impossible to ignore in organic search and AI-driven discovery. The mortgage incumbents winning today aren’t winning because they’re better. They’re winning because they’ve been around longer. You’ll get to change that. You’ll own Tomo’s SEO and AEO strategy end-to-end, building the content and visibility infrastructure that earns us the attention and authority we deserve.

You’ll work in close alignment with the Senior Director of Growth Marketing and alongside peer GMMs owning paid media and organic social.

What You'll Do

AEO & AI Search Strategy

  • Build and execute Tomo’s AEO/GEO strategy to maximize brand visibility across LLM platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini) and emerging AI search surfaces.

  • Lead ongoing research into AI model behavior, prompt patterns, and entity-based discovery mechanisms, and translate findings into competitive gap analyses, visibility frameworks, and mortgage-specific playbooks.

  • Identify structured data and schema markup opportunities. Translate that into action by crafting implementation briefs for the engineering team to execute, test, and validate.

  • Monitor and report on LLM citation performance, tracking Tomo’s share of voice across AI platforms and identifying opportunities to expand presence.

  • Stay two steps ahead of industry shifts in AI search and surface what matters before it’s obvious.

Content Strategy & Writing

  • Own content strategy and execution: identify keyword and topic opportunities, write the content, and publish it.

  • Build Tomo’s topical authority in mortgage and homebuying through FAQ content, landing pages, competitor comparison pages, rate guides, and educational resources, written for both traditional search intent and LLM scannability.

  • Develop and maintain a content calendar aligned to mortgage demand seasonality, competitive gaps, and AEO visibility opportunities.

Technical SEO & AEO

  • Conduct regular technical SEO audits (crawlability, indexation, Core Web Vitals, internal linking architecture) and translate findings into clear briefs for the engineering team.

  • Stay current on AI crawler behavior, entity SEO, and how AI systems index and interpret content at a technical level.

Digital PR & Outreach

  • Own Tomo’s external visibility strategy: identify high-authority placement opportunities across media outlets, blogs, industry publications, and community platforms.

  • Build and manage relationships with journalists, editors, and digital influencers in personal finance, real estate, and homebuying.

  • Craft personalized pitches and lead outreach campaigns that secure placements and backlinks that directly move SEO and LLM citation performance.

  • Develop a community presence strategy across platforms like Reddit and G2 to build brand authority and drive organic LLM mentions.

  • Track and analyze outreach effectiveness, continuously refining targeting, messaging, and follow-up to improve placement rates.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of hands-on SEO experience, with demonstrated recent focus on AEO, GEO, or LLM search optimization.

  • You write well—clearly, precisely, and in a voice that works for both human readers and AI systems. Writing samples required.

  • Technical SEO fluency: structured data, crawl optimization, Core Web Vitals, entity SEO. You identify issues and brief solutions; implementation is handled by engineering.

  • Proven digital PR and outreach track record: securing meaningful placements and building lasting media relationships.

  • Analytical and data-driven: comfortable in Google Search Console, GA4/Amplitude, Semrush/Ahrefs, and LLM visibility tools.

  • Strong communicator who can translate technical SEO and AEO concepts clearly for non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with NLP concepts, vector search, or RAG as they relate to content strategy.

  • Experience in regulated industries, financial services, or fintech.

  • Exposure to SQL or data warehouse tools (Snowflake, Amplitude) for deeper performance analysis.

  • Experience collaborating with Product and Engineering teams in an agile environment.

  • Journalism or traditional PR background.

Who You Are
  • Intellectually curious about how AI systems interpret, prioritize, and present information. You find this genuinely fascinating, not just professionally relevant.

  • Comfortable operating at both the technical layer (structured data, AI crawlers, entity SEO) and the strategic layer (brand narrative, content positioning, growth).

  • You operate ahead of the industry—already testing and thinking about things most companies haven’t started considering.

  • Obsessed with measurable outcomes. You connect organic search and LLM visibility directly to BOF metrics, not traffic vanity metrics.

  • Highly organized with strong project management instincts—you’re running content, outreach, technical, and research workstreams simultaneously without dropping threads.

  • You make AI work for you to improve output quality and efficiency—without losing editorial judgment or strategic thinking.

Employee Benefits

We strive to anticipate your needs in order for you to be a healthy, motivated, and happy team member. We provide a variety of competitive benefits including (but not limited to):

  • Equity Ownership: All teammates receive stock options—we win together

  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision plans for you and your dependents with some plans 100% covered

  • Work-life balance and a generous paid time off policy

  • In order to support teammates who become parents, Tomo Mortgage provides paid parental leave

  • 401(k) retirement plan
