Job Description
The On Air Scheduling Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining on-air play-out schedules for our cable and digital distribution operations. This position is a direct liaison between on-air operations, commercial operations, network programming, promotions and creative services departments. This role performs training within the team and serves as a point of contact/escalation for the overall scheduling organization.
Essential functions will include:
- Building schedules and program formats for play-out to air and channel hardware assignments for the suite of NBCUniversal cable and broadcast properties by way of NBCUniversal's proprietary scheduling and automation systems.
- Validate broadcast schedules for reliable on-air execution prior to play out including manual edits and availability to accommodate late breaking news and schedule changes.
- Secondary event scheduling including network identifiers and real time sports/news tickers
- Serves as a subject matter expert and point of escalation for On-Air Scheduling Coordinators
- Develops and documents workflows, departmental SOPs, and training curriculum for the on-air scheduling team.
- Leads meetings, owns communication and documentation (tasks lists, meeting minutes, etc...) on assigned projects.
- Provides off hours and/or weekend coverage upon request
Shift is overnight, 5pm - 3am EST
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Associates degree in related field or equivalent professional experience required
- 2+ years professional experience working in traffic, scheduling, or broadcast automation systems
- 2+ years of experience in a job or school related activity using computers and software applications including MS outlook, MS Word, & MS Excel.
- Ability to learn new software programs
- 2+ years in client facing customer service environment
- 2+ years working interpersonally across multiple groups/levels in an organization
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure, team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must be willing to work in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, Willingness and open availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to meet the 24/7 operational needs.
Desired Characteristics:
- 2+ years experience working in a 24/7 broadcast operation
- Proven effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multiple groups/levels in an organization
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure, team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability and willingness to adapt and learn in a constantly changing environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. The anticipated work schedule for this position is 5pm-3am ET, 4 days a week.
