Department: Merchandise Planning & Allocations
Reports to: Retail Allocations Lead
Dotted Line To: Commercial – Americas
Location: New York, NY (In-Store)

Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:

As an Allocations Analyst based in New York, you will be a key in-store resource supporting the execution of in-season allocation and replenishment strategies across a portfolio of brand stores. Embedded within our New York retail ecosystem, you will serve as a real-time connection point between store operations and the corporate Retail Allocations team.

This role is designed to provide deeper insights into in-store product performance and enhance inventory decision-making, while ensuring alignment to enterprise-wide retail allocation strategies. This is a new role with a dotted-line connection to the Commercial team, and a direct reporting line into the Retail Allocations function to preserve objectivity and strategic consistency in all inventory-related decisions.

Meet Your Future Team:

The Merchandise Planning & Allocations team is a cross functional group whose focus is to continuously drive sales and margin, while mitigating inventory risks by finding the balance between the right product at the right quantity in the right place at the right time.

If you were the Allocations Analyst now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Managing the overall replenishment process for a focused subset of brand stores - from implementation to exit, ensuring the right inventory for new stores
  • Analyzing store level inventory and sales to determine trends and maximize sales opportunities on a weekly basis
  • Making recommendations on store levels and products based on sales data and insight while monitoring and analyzing weekly sales and inventory trends within the New York store cluster and recommending adjustments to allocation and replenishment accordingly
  • Influence allocation decisions across the broader North American fleet using field-based insights from the New York store
  • Identifying and highlighting any concerns in inventory levels and provide visibility to the broader team on store-specific challenges and opportunities (e.g., capacity constraints, size selling trends, regional guest preferences), along with
  • investigating options to solve the problem
  • Working closely with the Operational Solutions team and commercial partners to ensure they are aware of product flow, replenishment flow, and any changes to the plan
  • Liaising between corporate cross functional partners and retail leadership to give insight into retail store operations
  • Helping to identify regional shortages and overages for the Open To Buy process
  • Liaising with the warehouse, stores, and product teams to coordinate smooth integration of replenishment and seasonal product drops
  • Identifying issues and gaps in process and supporting the team to find resolutions
  • Assisting with preparation of management reports and historical re-caps to analyze and communicate business performance
  • Partnering with Merchants, Merchandise Planners, Visual Merchandising, and the Store Design team to ensure new store opening timing is aligned and a work back plan is in place for inventory
  • Serving as the on-the-ground representative of the Retail Allocations team within the New York retail environment through providing real-time insight into customer behavior, sell-through, product presentation, and sales floor execution to inform allocation decisions, collaborating with the Commercial team to support local initiatives (eg. Events, product activations)
  • Champion Retail Allocations’ tools, reporting, and inventory management discipline in all cross-functional and commercial touchpoints and at leadership meetings at the store level
  • Traveling as required for store visits
  • Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing, throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain

Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:

  • Collaborating with new store opening teams to facilitate smooth stock reservation, reporting and delivery for an increasing number of brand stores
  • Managing the flow of inventory to an increasing regional portfolio
  • Providing weekly product category and store performance insights to merchandising and commercial partners
  • Balancing the seasonal assortment vision of the merchant team, the needs of individual stores, and our available inventory

Are you our next Allocations Analyst?

  • You have 2+ years in a planning, allocations, or merchandising environment
  • You thrive in a fast paced, rapidly evolving retail environment
  • You can identify and communicate key business insights to management and team
  • You have strong data analysis and Microsoft Excel skills
  • You have a love of retail and an ability to always stay consumer focused
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
  • You have the ability to travel for store visits and to the head office in Canada, as required
  • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
  • You seek and execute the best (but sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
  • You drive breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement of all Allocations processes
  • Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it
