About MAG

MAG is the market-making and proprietary trading arm of Novig. We provide liquidity across sports related event-contract and prediction-market venues and run a proprietary book alongside the mandate. We operate lean by design. A small, senior team with direct exposure to trading, capital, and counterparty work, supported by Novig's broader platform.

With Novig recently becoming a CFTC-designated market — the fastest designation of its kind in US history— we're bringing the prediction market built for sports fans nationwide.

We're backed by some of Silicon Valley's top investors — Pantera, Forerunner, Lux, NFX, Paul Graham, and Joe Montana — who have collectively invested over $100M behind this vision.

About the Role

This is the first dedicated analytics hire inside MAG. You won't be one analyst among many. You are the analytics function. From day one, the work you ship drives lender deliverables and the GM's daily read on the book.

You'll build and own the reporting and dashboard layer end to end on a modern stack (Postgres, Redshift, dbt, Hex, Metabase): daily P&L, intraday position and exposure visibility, auditable close-period snapshots, and covenant reporting packages. Roughly two thirds of the work is historical and close period; the remaining third is near real time operational visibility during event days. Direct access to the people making decisions, GM, traders, and engineers, comes with the seat.

You'll also have full access to modern AI tooling, including Claude Code and Cursor, and you're expected to use it. We hire people who treat LLM tooling as a force multiplier on their own work, not as something to be skeptical of or save for side projects. A lean analytics function only works when the person in the seat ships at the pace these tools enable. .

Who you are and what you will do
  • Build daily MAG P&L reporting and intraday dashboards covering open positions, exposures, and capital utilization against debt financing limits, refreshed at minute cadence on event days, with attribution by trader, strategy, venue, league, and bet type

  • Own the dbt layer that powers everything downstream: versioned, tested, documented, and traceable to source trades, with data quality, access controls, and audit trails aligned to firewall requirements between MAG and Novig

  • Produce auditable monthly close period snapshots and lender facing covenant reporting packages, in partnership with Novig

  • Build the data plumbing as MAG onboards new venues, traders, and strategies: normalized feeds, attribution, P&L slicing, and risk views ready before day one

  • Partner with the GM on backtesting and scenario analysis, and build self serve analytics so the GM and traders can answer recurring questions without you in the loop

  • 4 to 6 years in analytics engineering with strong SQL and dbt, fluent in Hex or Metabase. Meaningful financial services or trading exposure: you know the difference between position and P&L, realized vs. unrealized, and you're comfortable modeling fees, slippage, and attribution

  • A designer as well as a builder. You can talk to the GM, traders, and engineers without translation, and you're comfortable being the sole analytics owner in a lean, senior firm

  • AI native workflow. Claude Code, Cursor, and LLM assisted development are part of how you already work, and you're opinionated about where these tools earn their keep and where they don't

Why work here, in the words of the people who do

“I work with extremely stellar people, I own real systems, and decisions happen fast. No politics, no waiting for needless red tape. If something's broken, I fix it. If I build something good, it ships.”

“The people! They're smart, thoughtful, fun to work with and passionate about their craft.”

“I'm having the most fun I've had in my entire career.”

If you want responsibility, trust, and the chance to help build the future of sports prediction markets - take your shot, we’d love to connect.

Not for everyone
  • Our work is tied to live sports - that means potential nights, weekends, and pressure included.

  • If you need clear swim lanes, a heavy process, or someone to tell you what to do, this won’t be the right environment.

Compensation & benefits
  • $160k – $190k base, benchmarked at top-tier tech companies

  • Meaningful equity for every employee, regardless of role

  • 100% health premiums covered

  • 99% dental & vision covered

  • 401(k) with 4% company match

  • HSA + $1,080 annual company contribution

  • $50/monthly company contribution to employee transit

  • $27/day lunch stipend when working from our NYC office

  • $35/day dinner stipend when working from the NYC office after 6:30pm
