Overview

The Application Reliability Engineer plays a critical role in driving platform and partner reliability within the Application Reliability team, directly influencing how quickly and accurately we detect, triage, and resolve issues across TripleLift's Exchange. In this position, you will own investigations end-to-end and partner closely with Account Management, Engineering, and Product teams for technical deep-dive investigations, validate integrations, and strengthen the runbooks and tooling that keep our AdTech stack reliable. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to build deep, hands-on expertise across the programmatic ecosystem, take full ownership of technical problems, and grow into broader solutions leadership while contributing directly to the trust our partners place in TripleLift's platform.

Responsibilities
  • Own Level 2 (L2) tickets end-to-end, including discrepancy investigations, integration validations, and service requests, and participate in the team's on-call rotation.
  • Update and improve runbooks based on recurring issues to strengthen team processes and reduce repeat escalations.
  • Support Account Managers, Customer Success Managers, and external partners with data-backed responses, clearly explaining discrepancies, pacing issues, and integration behavior to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Apply strong working knowledge of programmatic workflows, OpenRTB, header bidding, and server-to-server (S2S) integrations to troubleshoot issues across TripleLift's Exchange, Creative Platform, and reporting layers.
  • Collaborate effectively with Engineering, Product, and client-facing teams to resolve issues and support overall team efficiency.
  • Communicate structured updates across squads, and write clear incident notes, runbooks, and validation summaries.
  • Propose and help build targeted automations and workflow improvements (monitoring tweaks, ticket templates, validation scripts) that reduce repetitive, manual work.
  • Own integration validation for new partners and products, troubleshoot discrepancies during UAT, and partner with Integrations and Engineering teams to unblock launches.
  • Use strong SQL and log analytics/APM tooling to debug DSP/SSP and tag/pixel workflows, and validate REST and OpenRTB API payloads.
  • Contribute small fixes, configuration changes, and tooling pull requests, and collaborate with Engineering on bug triage and validation.
  • Identify root causes for common issues (mismatched macros, tag misfires, reporting lags, basic integration breaks) using structured debugging methods.
Education & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a solutions, technical support, or operations role, ideally within AdTech or a related industry.
  • Strong SQL skills (joins, window functions) and experience with log analytics/APM tooling (e.g., Grafana, Kibana, Datadog).
  • Working knowledge of programmatic advertising concepts (OpenRTB, header bidding, DSP/SSP, S2S integrations) and core AdTech metrics (fill rate, bid rate, win rate, render rate, discrepancies).
  • Experience validating REST APIs and troubleshooting tag/pixel implementations.
  • Ability to read code and write small scripts or queries to support analysis and debugging.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfort participating in an on-call rotation and managing time-sensitive, partner-facing issues.
