Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking a Assistant Project Manager for our New York, NY office location in our program management business line supporting renovation healthcare project(s) onsite across New York City. This role supports the Project Manager and project team in the successful execution of the construction project from preconstruction through completion. This position is primarily field-based and requires close coordination with the Superintendent, subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and client representatives to ensure the project is progressing safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with the contract documents. The APM will assist with day-to-day project administration, document control, coordination, scheduling, quality control, and field operations while maintaining strong communication between the field and project management teams.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Support the Project Manager and Superintendent with daily project activities and coordination.
  • Maintain a consistent presence in the field and monitor project progress.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist with identifying and resolving field issues and coordinate solutions with the appropriate project team members.
  • Review and maintain project documentation, including drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and correspondence.
  • Assist with preparing, tracking, and distributing RFIs and submittals.
  • Maintain accurate project logs and records.
  • Monitor field work for compliance with contract documents, approved submittals, and project requirements.
  • Assist with identifying deficiencies and tracking corrective actions.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and required documentation.
  • Assist with preparing meeting agendas, minutes, reports, and presentations.
  • Follow up on action items and ensure commitments are tracked to completion.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS plus four years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education. 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced field environment.
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field and actively engage with project stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate issues to the Project Manager or Superintendent.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, schedule, and successful project delivery.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Primavera P6, or similar platforms is preferred.
