Who We Are

Horizon Commerce is a full-service commerce agency that helps brands accelerate growth by connecting strategy, media, technology, data, and shopping experiences across the modern path to purchase.

As part of Horizon Media, the largest independent media agency in the U.S., we help clients navigate an increasingly complex commerce landscape by breaking down the traditional silos between media, retail, content, and customer experience.

We believe our strongest work comes from teams with diverse experiences, perspectives, and skills. We strive to create an environment where talented people feel supported, challenged, and empowered to grow.

The Role

Horizon Commerce is seeking an Associate Director, Channel Management to lead digital shelf strategy and execution across key retail platforms and marketplaces, including Amazon, Walmart, Target, and others.

This is a commerce, digital shelf, and retail content role—not a paid media buying role. The Associate Director will help clients improve how their products show up, compete, and perform across digital retail environments through stronger product content, catalog health, retail SEO, promotional readiness, and product-level performance insights.

The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge of retailer platforms and product information management with strong analytical, operational, and client leadership skills. They are equally comfortable diagnosing a catalog or PDP issue, identifying opportunities from product-level data, and translating those findings into clear recommendations for clients and internal teams.

What You’ll Do

Lead Digital Shelf & Retail Content Strategy

  • Lead digital shelf and product content strategy across Amazon, Walmart, Target, and other priority retail platforms.

  • Evaluate product detail pages (PDPs) and identify opportunities to improve discoverability, content quality, conversion, and overall digital shelf performance.

  • Establish and maintain retailer-specific content standards and scorecards across titles, descriptions, imagery, attributes, keywords, taxonomy, and other PDP requirements.

  • Develop recommendations that connect content improvements to broader commercial priorities, including product launches, promotional periods, inventory considerations, and category dynamics.

  • Stay current on retailer search algorithms, emerging AI-enabled shopping experiences, and evolving digital shelf best practices.

Own PIM, Catalog & Content Syndication Operations

  • Lead end-to-end product content workflows, from auditing and optimization through PIM updates, syndication, and retailer publication.

  • Manage product information and content through PIM/PXM platforms, ensuring accuracy and consistency across retailer endpoints.

  • Oversee catalog health and troubleshoot complex content and item-setup issues across retailer platforms.

  • Support new product launches and ongoing assortment management, including taxonomy, attributes, parent-child variations, product relationships, and retailer-specific setup requirements.

  • Manage Amazon-specific programs and workflows where relevant, including Vendor Central/Seller Central, Born to Run, Vine, variation structures, and other catalog requirements.

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to resolve syndication, publication, and retailer compliance issues efficiently.

Drive Product-Level Performance & Commercial Insights

  • Evaluate product and category performance using sales, conversion, traffic, inventory, availability, content quality, promotional data and marketplace intelligence.

  • Identify opportunities and risks related to sales velocity, inventory position, competitive activity, promotional mechanics, and digital shelf execution.

  • Develop test-and-learn approaches and pre/post analyses to assess the impact of content and merchandising changes on traffic, conversion, and sales performance.

  • Translate item-level and retailer-level data into clear business insights and actionable recommendations.

  • Connect digital shelf performance to broader client commercial objectives.

Lead Seasonal & Promotional Readiness

  • Develop and manage digital shelf readiness plans for key commercial tentpoles and seasonal moments such as Prime Day, Cyber Week, Back-to-School, Holiday, and other category-specific events.

  • Conduct pre-event audits to identify content, catalog, availability, or promotional risks that could impact performance.

  • Prioritize and coordinate required optimizations ahead of key retail moments.

  • Evaluate post-event performance and identify opportunities to improve future execution.

Lead Client Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a day-to-day strategic partner to client stakeholders across eCommerce, Digital Marketing, Sales, and related functions.

  • Translate complex digital shelf and product-level findings into clear, executive-ready recommendations and presentations.

  • Lead or contribute to recurring client business reviews, performance discussions, and strategic planning sessions.

  • Manage competing priorities across multiple brands, retailers, and workstreams while maintaining strong quality and scope discipline.

  • Collaborate closely with Horizon’s Commerce Experience teams on product content, creative assets, enhanced content, and retailer experiences.

  • Partner with Horizon’s Commerce Media and client media teams to connect digital shelf, availability, promotions, and content strategy with paid media activity.

  • Build strong relationships across clients, retailer partners, technology providers, and internal agency teams.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in eCommerce, digital shelf, retail marketplace management, retail content, merchandising, channel management, or a related commerce discipline.

  • Strong working knowledge of major retail platforms such as Amazon, Walmart, and Target.

  • Hands-on experience with PIM/PXM or content syndication platforms, such as Salsify or Syndigo.

  • Experience managing product catalogs, retailer content requirements, PDP optimization, product attributes, taxonomy, and content syndication.

  • Strong understanding of retail SEO, product discoverability, content quality, and digital shelf best practices.

  • Familiarity with emerging AI-driven retail search and shopping experiences.

  • Ability to analyze product-level sales and commerce data and translate findings into commercial recommendations.

  • Experience working with retailer portals such as Amazon Vendor Central/Seller Central, Walmart Retail Link/Scintilla, or similar systems.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead multiple workstreams across brands, retailers, and stakeholders.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both working teams and senior client stakeholders.

  • A collaborative mindset and comfort working across strategy, media, creative, analytics, sales, and technology teams.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting CPG, Beauty, Personal Care, or other high-SKU and high-variation categories.

  • Experience with digital shelf and commerce analytics platforms: Pacvue, Profitero, CommercelQ, Stackline, Salsify Insights, Jungle Scout, MerchantSpring

  • Experience managing complex Amazon catalog structures, including parent-child variations, new item setup, Vine, and BTR.

  • Agency or consulting experience working across multiple clients, brands, and retail platforms.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means helping clients create a stronger and more consistent digital shelf presence while connecting execution to measurable business outcomes. You will bring together content, catalog operations, retailer expertise, analytics, and commercial strategy to ensure products are discoverable, accurately represented, competitively positioned, and positioned for profitable growth.
