Job Description

About the Team

The Investment Technology team designs and delivers technology platforms that support investment management, trading, portfolio construction, and product operations across the firm. We partner closely with investment, product, risk, and operations teams to enable scalable, resilient, and compliant solutions, with a strong focus on ETFs and index-based investment products. The team operates in a highly regulated financial services environment, balancing innovation with operational stability and risk management. Our mandate includes modernizing platforms through cloud adoption, data-driven architectures, and the responsible use of AI.

About the Role

As an Associate Director and Technical Architect within Investment Technology, you will serve as a hands-on architecture and engineering leader for a critical technology sub-domain. You will design and guide the implementation of cloud-native solutions while directing and mentoring development teams delivering complex systems. This role blends deep technical expertise with strong business partnership, particularly within the ETF and investment product lifecycle. You will act as a trusted technical advisor to senior technology and business stakeholders while remaining close to delivery.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Acting as the technical architect for cloud-based investment technology solutions, with a focus on ETF-related platforms and workflows

  • Designing scalable, secure, and resilient architectures across cloud, data, and application layers

  • Directing and mentoring development teams, setting technical direction, standards, and best practices

  • Translating investment and product requirements into well-architected technical solutions

  • Partnering with product, investment, and operations stakeholders to align technology with business outcomes

  • Leading the adoption of AI-driven capabilities (e.g., automation, analytics, decision support) within production systems

  • Ensuring solutions meet internal controls, security, and regulatory requirements typical of financial services

  • Contributing to technology roadmaps and architectural standards within the broader Investment Technology organization

Requirements of the Role:

  • Significant experience as a technical architect or senior engineer in a financial services environment

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of cloud engineering and cloud-native architectures

  • Direct experience supporting or building technology for ETFs, index products, or closely related investment products

  • Proven ability to lead and influence developers without being removed from the technical details

  • Experience applying AI or advanced analytics to solve real-world business or operational problems

  • Deep understanding of software engineering best practices, data architectures, and system integration

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Demonstrated success operating in a highly regulated, risk-aware environment

The salary range for this position in Downers Grove is $215,000 - $230,000/year. The total compensation offered for this position includes salary and incentive pay and will vary based on skills, experience and location
