The Investment Management division of Group 1001 currently has $50bn+ AUM and consists of a team of 34 based in Waltham, MA and NYC. Areas of investment focus include corporate credit and structured products.  

The Associate position is located in our NY office and will be dedicated to specializing in Esoteric ABS / Specialty Finance. There are opportunities for growth and additional responsibility as the person in the position develops their skill and knowledge. The role will work day-to-day with a small group within the larger investment team. The team is diverse with a positive culture and offers work/life balance. What You'll Do:

  • Evaluate Esoteric ABS / Specialty Finance opportunities in both public and private markets
  • Contribute to all phases of the investment process: idea generation, credit analysis and underwriting, transaction structuring, trade execution, and surveillance
  • Assist in deal term negotiations, review transaction materials and perform analysis
  • Construct and model bespoke, securitized structures for esoteric assets
  • Interface with bank sales and trading teams; build and develop relationships; manage incoming deal flow and forward investment pipeline
  • Identify new investment ideas and opportunities
  • Support ad-hoc projects as needed

We are looking for:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in an investment management firm, investment bank, rating agency, accounting firm, or consulting firm.
  • Experience in one or more asset classes: esoteric ABS, asset backed lending, specialty finance
  • Self-starter capable of independently executing on existing strategy who takes accountability for his/her work product
  • Strong team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Solid technical capabilities with financial modeling and cash flow analysis experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Intex, and other financial tools.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task and meet tight deal/project deadlines
  • High personal and ethical standards

Compensation:  

 

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $130,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $150,000/year plus bonus in our highest geographic market.  Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
