The Team You Will Join
Global Risk Management (GRM) oversees MetLife's financial and non-financial risks to support responsible growth and ensure we deliver on our promises to customers and stakeholders. GRM accomplishes this through proactive advice, through independent and effective challenge, and through implementation and enforcement of guardrails.
The Opportunity
The AVP of Strategy & Planning reports directly to the VP of Strategy & Planning in GRM. The incumbent is responsible for supporting the Chief of Staff to the CRO and driving a variety of important strategic initiatives for GRM including the annual business plan risk review. The role is responsible for working with various stakeholders to drive and execute the communications and engagement strategy across GRM. The person is also responsible for driving important strategic initiatives across GRM The role also includes leading and managing key risk processes (e.g. MetLife Enterprise Own Risk Solvency Assessment (ORSA), coordination and drafting of major presentations, and legal entity board material preparation, as appropriate. The role requires frequent interaction with senior management within GRM and other parts of the enterprise.
A multi-faceted and dynamic role, the position requires an experienced, dedicated professional who can influence and manage with effectiveness and efficiency and has a strong working knowledge of the GRM organization. This role requires strong communications skills, the ability to convey information succinctly, and the ability to multitask and operate under fixed deadlines. It is also critical that the individual has a desire to lead and influence others, and the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future:
• Support and provide strategic advice to the VP, Strategy & Planning and respective GRM SLT to drive delivery of GRM priorities, including the annual business plan risk review
• Drive strategy and execution of important GRM initiatives including annual ORSA
• Lead development of GRM communications and engagement strategy in collaboration with partners.
• Develop and facilitate GRM townhalls, lead GRM Engagement and Development committee, analyze GRM MyVoice Surveys and support or lead other Chief of Staff initiatives
• Support GRM readiness for Enterprise Risk Committee and support Board of Director meetings
• Develop GRM related presentations, annual filings and responses for legal entities and state regulatory filings
• Play an active role in supporting key priorities including Annual Business Plan Risk Review and facilitation of governance processes
• Demonstrate strong influencing, communication, writing and collaboration skills across multiple levels of management, executives, employees, business partners and stakeholders
• Build relationships at all levels of the organization, including the ability to resolve issues and seek consensus among diverse groups of stakeholders
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and proprietary material
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications):
• 10+ years of experience in financial services industry, insurance and/or management consulting.
• Strong critical and strategic thinking and influencing capabilities
• Strong financial acumen and numeracy skills
• Prior experience managing multiple large complex projects, including the ability to create and execute project plans
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and conduct presentations and communicate with senior and executive management
• The ability to work independently on multiple priorities; follow-up skills and an appropriate sense of ownership and urgency
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to analyze complex situations, learn quickly, and synthesize corresponding solutions, options, and action plans
• High degree of professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion in contacts with management and associates
• Cultural fluency and ability to work effectively with a diverse, global population
• Skilled at analytical and creative thinking and problem solving
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint; Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Word

• Risk management background is a plus
Salary Range: The wage range for applicants for this position is between $157,800 and $210,400.
