You will:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend services and APIs primarily using C++.
- Build and optimize the data pipelines and infrastructure that power Waymo's critical event triage and analysis platforms
- Collaborate closely with front-end engineers, Product Managers, and other engineering teams to define APIs, data models, and system architecture.
- Contribute to system design, architectural decisions, and best practices for backend development within the team.
- Integrate with AI/ML platforms and infrastructure to power intelligent product experiences.
- Monitor, debug, and optimize the performance and reliability of backend systems.
You have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong focus on backend development.
- Proficiency in C++ and experience with building production-grade services.
- Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and best practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and lead technical discussions.
We prefer:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Experience with ML frameworks, libraries, and cloud-based platforms
- Experience with Java
- Experience with web front-end development, including TypeScript and Angular
- Experience leveraging AI-powered developer tools to improve software development velocity; experience building or augmenting such tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with Google's internal development tools and infrastructure.
The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
