About Pikkit

At Pikkit, we’re building the home for sports betting. Today, we’re a social sports betting app with over 1 million users, 20,000+ 5 star reviews, and we’ve tracked over 30 billion dollars of legal US sports wagers through our app. We’re featured in industry reports from Citizens Bank, Houlihan Lokey, SBC, and more. We’re also backed by leading venture capitalists including Founder Collective, Baukunst, and Matrix. We’re a team of 15; we have an office in Flatiron in NYC and are all in-person. We move fast, build high quality products, and don't take ourselves too seriously. 😊

About this role

Backend engineering at Pikkit is an exciting role to help us scale our systems as we grow. We're hiring a backend engineer who is passionate about delivering high quality experiences to our users and ensuring that our app is performant during high spikes in user traffic (i.e. Super Bowl or a big NFL match-up). We use React Native, Node, AWS, MongoDB, SST, and more. We don't expect you to have experience in our exact stack, but we do expect strong engineering fundamentals and a strong interest in reliability, scalability, and product experience.

You'll work on things like:

  • Database optimizations, backend systems, and more

  • Scaling our platform for increasing usage

  • Stress testing our system and running simulations to identify areas to improve performance

Nice to have, but not necessary:

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience with building at the product/application layer

  • Strong experience with MongoDB

  • Strong initiative and ability to thrive in ambiguity — startup or personal project experience is a major plus

  • The desire to wear a bunch of hats, learn new skills and have significant product ownership

Benefits

  • Interesting and challenging problems to solve

  • Experienced engineers and technical founders to learn from

  • Competitive salary and equity

  • Generous budget for laptop, monitors, and other office equipment

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • Unlimited vacation policy

  • Fun In-person team events
