About the Team

Like every team at OpenAI, the Marketing team contributes to our broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. With that aim in mind, we are responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and usage for OpenAI’s products and platform amongst our core audiences. We take a data-driven approach to understand our customers' needs and challenges, ensuring that their voices are reflected in product development and messaging. We then partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Comms, and Design teams to create a cohesive customer experience across all our channels. Our focus extends beyond just promoting product features; we aim to provide valuable insights and resources that help our users make the most out of AI technologies.

About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and culturally fluent Brand Partner Marketer to build partnerships that strengthen the OpenAI brand in culture and with the audiences that matter most.

This person will identify the people, organizations, platforms, and programs that align with OpenAI’s values and create opportunities to bring our brand and mission to life in relevant, credible ways. They will develop partnerships that help OpenAI participate meaningfully in culture, reach new audiences, and demonstrate the positive role AI can play in people’s lives.

The role will lead partnerships from strategy through execution: identifying opportunities, shaping the creative and strategic vision, building trusted relationships with external partners, and working across internal teams to bring programs to life. Success will require strong cultural instincts, a clear point of view on brand fit, and the ability to turn shared values into distinctive partnerships that create lasting value for both OpenAI and its partners.

In This Role You Will

  • Develop and lead OpenAI’s brand partnership strategy, identifying the people, organizations, platforms, and cultural opportunities that can strengthen the brand and advance its mission.

  • Build a pipeline of high-impact partnerships that help OpenAI participate meaningfully in culture, reach priority audiences, and demonstrate the positive role AI can play in people’s lives.

  • Evaluate partnership opportunities based on audience relevance, values alignment, cultural credibility, creative potential, and long-term brand impact.

  • Serve as the primary marketing lead for key partners, building trusted relationships and guiding programs from initial opportunity through strategy, negotiation, development, and execution.

  • Shape the strategic and creative vision for partnerships, developing distinctive programs, campaigns, content, events, experiences, and activations that feel authentic to both OpenAI and its partners.

  • Work closely with Partnerships, Brand, Creative, Communications, Global Affairs, Research, Legal, and regional teams to identify opportunities and bring partnership programs to life.

  • Help define the role OpenAI should play across culture, including entertainment, sports, design, education, science, the arts, and other areas relevant to the audiences we want to reach.

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with influential individuals and institutions whose credibility, expertise, or cultural relevance can help bring OpenAI’s values and impact to life.

  • Develop clear partnership narratives and value propositions that articulate why OpenAI and a prospective partner should work together and what each party uniquely contributes.

  • Protect OpenAI’s brand integrity by establishing clear principles for partner selection, creative development, and execution.

  • Create scalable frameworks for identifying, evaluating, prioritizing, and managing partnership opportunities across markets and cultural categories.

  • Define success measures for brand partnerships, using audience, brand, cultural, and engagement signals to assess impact and inform future investment.

  • Translate cultural trends, audience insights, and program performance into recommendations that continuously improve OpenAI’s partnership strategy.

You Will Thrive in This Role If You

  • Have 12+ years of experience in brand partnerships, cultural marketing, strategic partnerships, integrated marketing, entertainment or sports marketing, or a related field.

  • Have a proven track record developing partnerships that strengthened a brand’s cultural relevance, expanded its reach, or built credibility with important audiences.

  • Bring strong cultural fluency and a clear point of view on the people, institutions, platforms, and ideas shaping culture.

  • Have excellent brand judgment and can assess opportunities based on values alignment, audience relevance, authenticity, creative potential, and long-term brand impact.

  • Are skilled at identifying partnership opportunities and turning an initial idea or shared ambition into a compelling strategy and program.

  • Have experience developing campaigns, content, events, experiences, and activations with external partners.

  • Can build trusted relationships with influential individuals, creators, organizations, and institutions, while aligning stakeholders with different priorities.

  • Can translate OpenAI’s mission, values, and work into partnership ideas that feel relevant and authentic rather than transactional or overly promotional.

  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills and are comfortable influencing senior stakeholders internally and externally.

  • Thrive in highly cross-functional environments and can work effectively across Brand, Creative, Communications, Partnerships, Global Affairs, Research, Legal, and regional teams.

  • Balance strategic thinking, creative ambition, and hands-on execution, moving comfortably from identifying an opportunity to bringing it to life.

  • Have strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple partners, programs, and priorities simultaneously.

  • Use audience insights, cultural signals, brand research, and program performance to evaluate impact and improve future partnerships.

  • Enjoy building new strategies, programs, relationships, and ways of working in fast-moving and ambiguous environments.
