Own, support, and evolve enterprise business applications: lead integrations and implementations, provide Tier 3 support, deploy containerized AI services in Azure, manage identity and security, automate reporting with SQL/Power BI, and document/cross-train for operational continuity.
The Business Applications Engineer is responsible for owning, supporting, and evolving a complex business application ecosystem. This role requires high availability and performance, leads integration and new technology deployments, provides Tier 3 support, and builds redundancy by partnering with the existing Applications Specialist to document and cross-train on critical systems. Prior real-world production experience is required. This position reports directly to the VP, Head of Information Technology and is an on-site role based out of our 345 Park Avenue office.
- Application Ownership: Support and manage core business applications to help ensure reliability, performance, and continuity of operations.
- Technical Support & Issue Resolution: Provide advanced support for business applications, troubleshooting issues, and help drive timely resolutions to minimize operational disruption.
- System Implementations & Integrations: Lead the implementation, integration, and ongoing improvement of all business applications and supporting technologies, including AI-driven security and operational applications.
- MCP & Containerized AI Services: Support containerized services and AI-related technologies in production environments, including deployment, configuration, and integration with business applications.
- Security & Access Control: Support identity, access, and security administration for business applications while helping to maintain compliance with organizational and audit requirements.
- Data Management & Reporting: Automate & Support reporting and analytics activities, including SQL queries and Power BI dashboards, while helping to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and continuity.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to support business application initiatives, issue resolution, and ongoing service improvements.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain clear documentation and share knowledge to support operational consistency, cross-training, and ongoing application support.
- Operational Continuity & Backup: Support continuity planning, cross-training, and backup coverage to help reduce single points of failure and maintain reliable application support.
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
- 5+ years managing enterprise business applications in complex, multi-system environments.
- Proven experience with system integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, and middleware/iPaaS platforms (e.g., Azure Integration Services, Power Automate). Experience with Copilot Studio and generative AI solutions (Claude, OpenAI).
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases. Experience with Power BI or equivalent BI tools; familiarity with data warehousing or ETL concepts preferred.
- Proficiency in Python and PowerShell for automation and application support.
- Knowledge of Entra ID, SSO/SAML, OAuth 2.0, and RBAC for enterprise identity and access management.
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing Docker containers in Azure, including MCP server implementation—containerization, endpoint configuration, secrets management (Azure Key Vault), and integration with AI platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to perform root-cause analysis across application, integration, and infrastructure layers. Familiarity with Azure Monitor and Log Analytics for health monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills; able to present technical content to non-technical stakeholders.
- Expertise in property management software, tenant experience platforms, identity management, analytics, and physical security/smart building systems; Yardi experience a plus.
- Familiarity with AI-driven security/enterprise operations platforms and real estate technology.
- Hands on Docker Container Experience in Production Environment.
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum and ITSM frameworks (e.g., ITIL); Fresh Service experience preferred.
- Relevant Microsoft or industry certifications—such as AZ-104, PL-200, SC-300, AI-900.
