Position Summary

Fried Frank’s Corporate Finance and Securities practice is growing strategically, continually adding firepower to our core areas of strength — with each addition making a meaningful impact to our business. Our team has deep expertise across a variety of capital markets transactions, including equity offerings, convertible securities, high-yield debt, and private placements.

Our prestigious client base of major corporations, investment funds, financial institutions and business leaders consistently seeks our counsel across top-tier transactional and contentious matters. Within the practice advises investment banks, private equity firms, and corporate borrowers with respect to acquisition financings, including bank, direct lenders and high-yield debt.

The Business Development Manager will work with the Corporate Finance and Securities practice to provide day-to-day support designed for growth. In close partnership with Marketing, Practice Group Management and other team members, they will collaborate, innovate and drive the business development for one of the firm’s flagship practices.

Job Relationships

Reports to the Director of Business Development. Must be able to work closely with all legal and administrative staff across the firm. In addition, this role will create and nurture relationship with clients, prospects and industry professionals.   

Job Responsibilities

  • Support all business development and client targeting activities for assigned finance practices, leveraging  resources across the Firm to ensure consistently high-quality work product and on-deadline delivery.
  • Work closely with attorneys on their individual business development goals, including executing strategic plans, identifying new business and building healthy relationships.
  • Develop core messaging for practice, including value propositions and targeting specific capital markets audiences.
  • Maintain off-the-shelf marketing and pitch materials that showcase practice group’s capabilities to potential buyers and existing decision makers.
  • Assist attorneys with unique pitch meetings to clients and/or prospects, including:
    • Holding briefing discussions to understand the opportunity.
    • Facilitating market, industry and client/prospect research.
    • Writing new business proposals and producing responses to requests for information/requests for proposals (RFIs/RFPs).
    • Preparing pitch materials, including visual aides and other leave-behind items.
    • Assisting in developing “best practice” proposal/pitch guidelines.
    • Supporting follow-up and debrief activities post-pitch.
  • Manage the completed matter information including regular maintenance in relevant internal databases and submission to external league tables / public reporting.
  • Manage visibility opportunities for assigned attorneys, including conference sponsorships, speaking opportunities, thought leadership campaigns and events.
  • Collaborate with research team to compile market and competitive intelligence.
  • Maintain online reporting system tracking proposals/pitches, including relevant documents, and evaluate progress by client/prospect, industry and type of services proposed.
  • Manage all facets of the directory submission and industry recognition programs.
  • Manage timelines, deliverables, and communications to ensure seamless execution of BD initiatives.
  • Stay current on emerging BD and marketing technologies to enhance efficiency and innovation.

 Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of business development, client relationship management, or marketing experience, ideally within a law firm, investment bank, or professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives, influence senior stakeholders, and drive outcomes.
  • Exceptional project‑management skills with a track record of delivering high‑quality work under tight timelines.
  • Tech‑savvy, with experience using CRM platforms, analytics tools, and digital marketing systems.
  • Basic understanding of debt, equity and high yield transactions.
  • Knowledge of key capital markets target audiences such as issuers, underwriters,  asset managers, private equity professionals and other industry players.
  • Excellent communication skills — both client‑facing and internal — with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, high‑expectation environment.
The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
