About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Business Development Representative to help grow both Syntax Direct and Syntax’s broader traditional/custom index business. This role will support outreach, inbound follow-up, demo coordination, and early-stage relationship development across RIAs, financial advisors, wealth platforms, asset managers, ETF issuers, and other relevant financial services firms. The BDR will help identify new opportunities, support both product lines, and contribute to a scalable growth process as demand increases across Syntax’s platform and index businesses.
Responsibilities will include:
- Conduct outbound prospecting via phone, email, and social media to generate qualified leads
- Manage and respond to inbound leads from marketing initiatives and partner referrals
- Support both Syntax Direct and Syntax’s traditional/custom index business, including outreach and early-stage conversations related to index products, index licensing, platform partnerships, and advisor-facing solutions
- Clearly communicate Syntax’s value proposition across both product lines, including direct indexing, custom indexing, and differentiated company classification/data methodology
- Maintain accurate records of interactions and pipeline activity in the CRM (Hubspot)
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Index teams to share prospect feedback, identify recurring questions, and refine outreach strategies
- Follow up on inbound leads and nurture them through the early stages of the sales funnel
- Establish a feedback loop between sales, marketing, and product teams to gather insights on lead quality and refine strategies
- Support conference and event follow-up by helping organize, prioritize, and pursue leads generated through industry meetings and events.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a smooth handoff to onboarding and client support functions
The ideal candidate will have:
- 1–3 years of experience in sales, business development, or client-facing roles
- Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to learn and explain financial technology, index, and investment-related concepts
- Familiarity with CRM tools (Hubspot preferred)
- Self-motivated, organized and comfortable. managing multiple priorities
- Basic understanding of invest management, RIAs, financial advisors, ETFs, indices, or wealth platforms preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint) or similar tools
- Willingness to travel occasionally
Preferred skills:
- Experience in fintech, asset management, or financial services
- Exposure to RIAs, financial advisors, ETF issuers, asset managers, or platform providers.
- Interest in markets, portfolio construction, direct indexing, custom indexing, or financial data.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, product, and index/data teams
