Company Description

Prism Media LLC (“Prism Media”) is a newly established portfolio company of Soros Fund Management LLC (“SFM”), a global asset manager and family office with approximately $28 billion in assets under management.

Prism Media is a centralized operating platform that supports a growing number of leading digital media and information businesses within SFM’s Media Partnerships and Investments portfolio, including Crooked Media, First We Feast, Her Campus Media, and MeidasTouch Network.

The Prism Media team provides finance, legal, human resources, and operations capabilities to drive efficiency, enable growth, and help shape the next phase of each business.

Role Overview

The CFO is senior operating officer of Prism Media, responsible for building and leading the shared services platform that supports SFM's media portfolio. Finance, Legal, and Human Resources report directly to this role.

The CFO will have primary accountability for standing up Prism Media as a best-in-class operating platform, establishing the infrastructure, processes, and culture that allow portfolio companies to operate efficiently and at scale. This is a builder's role: the successful candidate will be comfortable creating things that don't yet exist, making decisions with incomplete information, and earning trust with portfolio company leadership through execution.

On the finance side, the CFO will lead accounting, reporting, and financial close cycles across multiple entities, and establish budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking frameworks. The role requires strong attention to detail alongside the ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for portfolio leadership and the Board.

This is a full-time, New York-area role requiring four in-office days per week in our New York city office.

Major Responsibilities

Platform Leadership & Organizational Build-Out

  • Serve as a senior officer of Prism Media, with Finance, Legal, and HR reporting directly into this role
  • Build and lead a small, high-performing shared services team across functions
  • Define how Prism Media operates, establishing the processes, norms, and infrastructure of a new organization from the ground up
  • Partner with SFM and portfolio company leadership to gradually evolve the platform's scope and service model

Financial Reporting & Data Integrity

  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting across portfolio companies, including monthly close processes
  • Establish consistent and reliable financial reporting across companies, including standardized P&Ls, cash flow, and key metrics
  • Ensure financial data is accurate, complete, and delivered on a timely basis
  • Provide financial reporting that supports decision-making

Planning, Forecasting, & Business Partnership

  • Work with portfolio leadership to build and maintain budgeting and forecasting processes across operating companies
  • Work with operating companies to improve financial discipline and reporting quality

Financial Operations, Controls & Infrastructure

  • Establish and maintain financial controls, processes, and documentation across a multi-entity environment
  • Manage audit, tax, and external accounting providers as needed
  • Coordinate with finance resources within operating companies and external providers where applicable, while maintaining direct ownership of outputs
  • Identify and implement practical tools and systems (including automation where appropriate) to improve reporting, tracking, and financial workflows

What We Value:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting, controllership, or operating finance roles
  • Strong foundation in accounting and financial reporting (close processes, consolidations, multi-entity structures)
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting (FP&A), with ability to build on top of a solid accounting foundation and translate financials into clear insights
  • Comfortable working directly with operating teams, not just in a reporting capacity
  • Familiarity with standard financial tools (e.g., Excel); openness to using new tools, including automation and AI, to improve workflows

What Success Looks Like
  • Leadership has clear, timely, and reliable financial information that can be used confidently for decision-making
  • Regular reporting (including dashboards and month-end close) is reliable and well-managed
  • Financial data can be trusted and used confidently for decision-making
  • Budgeting and forecasting processes are in place and actually used by teams
  • Financial discipline improves across portfolio and operating companies without slowing operators down
  • Portfolio leadership has the data and analysis needed to support capital allocation decisions
  • External providers (audit, tax, accounting) are well-managed and cost-effective
  • Financial systems and processes scale as new companies and transactions are added

We anticipate the base salary of this role to be between $325,000 to $375,000. In addition to a base salary, the successful candidate will also be eligible to receive a discretionary year-end bonus.
