Job Description

The New York Police Department is seeking a high-level executive to serve as Chief Analytics Officer (CAO), responsible for leading the Department’s data science, business intelligence, and analytics strategy. The CAO will focus on turning complex data into actionable operational insights and setting strategic analytical priorities.
With the broadest latitude to review the Department’s strategy on analytics, the Chief Analytics Officer will work across bureaus to optimize how analytics and analytic tools are used; review existing analytics tools to ensure that the Department’s capacities meet its needs; partner closely with information technology teams to review products in use and future tools; ensure that the Department continues to de-silo data-related insights wherever possible; and ensure that bureaus have data analytic needs met.
Additional Responsibilities
- Analytics Strategy: Build and guide the enterprise vision for data science, predictive modeling, and business intelligence. Build processes and data visualization that can be interpreted without a
technical background.
- Agency Strategic Planning: Work closely with the Deputy Commissioner for Strategic Initiatives to translate data into measurable goals and objectives that support the Department’s mission.
- Team Leadership: Manage multidisciplinary teams of data scientists and analysts.
- Infrastructure Collaboration: Work alongside the Deputy Commissioner of the Information Technology Bureau/Chief Information Officer (CIO) to design functional data platforms and reporting tools.
