The Chief of Staff will serve as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the Global Chief Claims Officer (GCCO), supporting the execution of the company’s claims strategy, driving key business management initiatives, and overseeing cross-functional project management. This pivotal role acts as a liaison between the GCCO, senior leadership, and various stakeholders across the organization. The successful candidate is a seasoned insurance professional with exceptional business acumen, project management skills, strategic thinking, and deep understanding of the P&C industry landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Business Management:
  • Partner with the GCCO to execute claims organization strategies and initiatives.
  • Translate the GCCO’s vision into actionable plans and outcomes across the global Claims team.
  • Drive operational excellence by overseeing key business management functions such as strategic planning, departmental budgeting, and executive reporting.
  • Project Management & Execution:
  • Direct the planning, execution, and delivery of complex, cross-functional initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, timelines, and budgets.
  • Oversee enterprise-wide transformation projects and process improvement efforts within the Claims function.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Executive Communications & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Prepare and review presentations, reports, and communications for internal and external stakeholders (Board, Executive Leadership, Regulators).
  • Facilitate effective information flow between the GCCO and business leaders across regions and business lines.
  • Organize and manage leadership meetings, offsites, and key events; drive follow-ups and accountability.
  • Business Operations:
  • Oversee Claims organization’s operating rhythm, including business reviews, leadership team meetings, and performance tracking.
  • Identify opportunities for optimization and innovation in claims processes, structure, and technology.
  • Leadership and People:
  • Mentor and lead a small team of business/project management professionals.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree (MBA, MS) preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in property & casualty insurance; significant experience within Claims, operations, or business management required.
  • Proven track record leading complex projects and strategic initiatives in a dynamic, matrixed environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong analytic, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working with executive leadership; ability to influence at all levels.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, project management tools, and analytics platforms.
  • Ability to work in New York City, including flexibility for in-person collaboration as needed.

Preferred Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience in consulting, strategy, or transformational roles within insurance or financial services.
  • Familiarity with global operations, regulatory environments, and digital transformation in Claims
