About Supabase

Supabase is the Postgres development platform, built by developers for developers. We provide a complete backend solution including Database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and Vector Search. All services are deeply integrated and designed for growth.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Commercial FinOps Lead to own the commercial and vendor-management function for Supabase. You’ll run our cloud and SaaS vendor relationships end-to-end (AWS, GCP, Cloudflare, CloudQuery, ClickHouse, and more), leading negotiations and renewals, enforcing procurement governance, and applying our VIA operating model (Visibility, Insights, Actions) to keep vendor spend disciplined and well-governed. You’ll work closely with Finance, Engineering, Legal, and our vendor partners.

This is a founding role for the commercials function. The operating model, the source of truth for vendor spend, and the standards are yours to define, against a clear position: this is a FinOps role first, not a procurement desk. You'll own the technical and analytical side of vendor management, reporting, efficiency, and the commercial interface across the company, while keeping procurement governance tight. It's ideal for someone fluent across finance and engineering, who thrives in async, fast-moving environments, and wants to build a function from the ground up rather than inherit one.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

In this role, you’ll:

  • Own vendor relationships: Run our primary cloud and SaaS vendor relationships end-to-end (AWS, GCP, Cloudflare, CloudQuery, ClickHouse, and more), leading renewals and negotiations alongside Finance and Legal.

  • Run procurement governance: Enforce our competitive-bid process for incoming requests and manage larger procurement through our managed-procurement partner, keeping oversight and accountability with FinOps.

  • Drive commercial VIA: Own spend visibility and unit economics, surface licensing and usage inefficiency before it becomes a surprise, and drive renewals, right-sizing, and tooling consolidation to realized savings.

  • Build reporting and governance: Vendor and SaaS cost reporting is the unowned gap today and your highest-leverage area in the first year. Build the dashboards and reporting hands-on, partner with our data teams to scale them, and own the governance layer (spend policies, thresholds, accountability).

  • Coordinate the cloud efficiency program: Keep optimization initiatives visible and tracked from commitment to realized savings, partnering with Engineering without taking over their delivery.

  • Hold the boundary on the role: You own the analytical, commercial, efficiency, and program side of vendor management. This is not a buying desk or a contracts-admin seat, and it does not take over engineering's delivery or status reporting. Procurement partners (e.g. Vertice) assist; FinOps keeps oversight and accountability.

You Might Be a Good Fit If You
  • Have 5+ years in vendor/commercial management, procurement, FinOps, or technical/financial analysis, at a senior, function-owning level.

  • Have owned vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and renewals, and treat them as a lever on unit economics.

  • Have run procurement governance such as competitive-bid processes, benchmark analysis, approval thresholds, or managed-procurement partners.

  • Have high judgment and can hold a position and drive alignment without positional authority.

  • Build cost dashboards and reporting hands-on (SQL, BI tools), and are comfortable with vendor and cloud spend data (AWS, GCP, SaaS billing) and licensing/usage analysis.

  • Communicate clearly across both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Have experience in async or globally distributed teams.

  • Are energized by building a function from the ground up and navigating ambiguity.

What We Offer
  • Fully Remote

We hire globally. We believe you can do your best work from anywhere. There are no Supabase offices, but we provide a WeWork membership or co-working allowance you can use anywhere in the world.

  • ESOP

Every team member receives ESOP (equity ownership) in the company. We want everyone to share in the upside of what we’re building together.

  • Tech Allowance

Use this budget to set up your ideal work environment—laptop, monitor, headphones, or whatever helps you do your best work.

  • Health Benefits

Supabase covers 100% of health insurance for employees and 80% for dependents, wherever you are. Your wellbeing and your family’s health are important to us.

  • Annual Off-Sites

Once a year, the entire company gathers in a new city for a week of connection, collaboration, and fun. It’s a highlight of our year.

  • Flexible Work

We operate asynchronously and trust you to manage your own time. You know what needs to be done and when.

  • Professional Development

Every team member receives an annual education allowance to spend on learning—courses, books, conferences, or anything that supports your growth.

About the Team

Supabase was born-remote and open-source-first. We believe our globally distributed team is our secret weapon in building tools developers love.

  • 280+ team members

  • 55+ countries

  • 20+ languages spoken

  • $500M raised

  • 500,000+ community members

We move fast, build in public, and use what we ship. If it’s in your project, we probably use it in ours too. We believe deeply in the open-source ecosystem and strive to support—not replace—existing tools and communities.

Hiring Process

We keep things simple, async-friendly, and respectful of your time:

  1. Apply – Our team will review your application.

  2. Intro Call – A short video chat to get to know each other.

  3. Interviews – Up to four calls with:

    • Team Leads

    • Future teammates

    • Someone cross-functional from product, growth, or engineering (depending on the role)

    • Someone from our leadership/founding team

  4. Decision – We may follow up with a final question or go straight to offer.

All communication is remote and we aim to move fast.
