Thornton Tomasetti applies engineering and scientific principles to solve the world’s challenges. An independent organization of creative thinkers and innovative doers collaborating from offices worldwide, our mission is to bring our clients' ideas to life and, in the process, lay the groundwork for a better, more resilient future. We provide support and opportunities to our employees to achieve their full potential and cultivate a rewarding career.

The Role

We’re looking for an early-career digital thinker who enjoys analytics, working on websites and understanding how people find information online. You’ll help Thornton Tomasetti organize, publish and improve digital content so our expertise is easier to discover, understand and engage with.

This is a hands-on role combining website updates, content optimization and performance analysis. You’ll build and update pages in Drupal, work with headings, metadata and internal links, and use data to identify opportunities for improvement. Working alongside content, design and development specialists, you’ll also support changes to website architecture, templates and user journeys.

You should bring foundational knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO), answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) and a desire to explore how search is transforming. We want someone who asks questions, tests ideas and connects what the data shows with practical improvements.

What You’ll Do

  • Support our lead developer with light front-end updates as needed, including basic troubleshooting, testing and small enhancements to website functionality, under developer guidance.
  • Apply SEO, AEO and GEO principles to page titles, heading hierarchy, content structure and internal linking, working with writers and experts to preserve meaning and accuracy.
  • Use search and analytics tools to explore audience behavior, monitor performance and identify content gaps.
  • Adapt approved content for digital use through clear formatting, descriptive headings and focused sections.
  • Check pages for accuracy, broken links, formatting, accessibility and mobile presentation.
  • Follow developments in search, AI discovery and digital behavior, sharing findings and helping test new approaches.
  • Help connect web content with social distribution and campaign measurement.
  • Build and test simple AI agents or automated workflows for repeatable tasks, with team guidance and human review.
  • Help review and interpret analytics.

What You'll Bring

  • 0–2 years of experience in digital content, web publishing, digital marketing or a related field. Internships, coursework and independent projects count.
  • An interest in analytics and the ability to turn findings into questions, recommendations and tests.
  • Foundational knowledge of SEO and familiarity with AEO, GEO and AI-driven search.
  • Understanding of how headings, metadata, internal links and page structure support discoverability and usability.
  • Experience working in a CMS, with basic knowledge of HTML/CSS and an interest in learning other languages, JavaScript, and web development fundamentals. Drupal experience is a plus.
  • Curiosity about how search is changing and a willingness to keep learning.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and follow-through.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to seek subject-matter, editorial or design guidance.
