The Purchasing Buyer supports neighborhood developments by procuring goods and services, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely and efficient purchasing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in purchasing goods and services for all of NYCHA.
- Manage vendor communications and follow up on purchase order status.
- Advise and support operational, technical, and professional staff in managing purchases.
- Collaborate across departments to identify and fulfill purchasing needs.
- Provide timely and effective customer service to requestors and internal stakeholders.
- Review and process requisitions in the Oracle queue, including expedited requests.
- Monitor purchasing trends and liaise with Procurement staff to help identify and develop contract opportunities.
- Troubleshoot purchasing issues and resolve discrepancies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and act in a supervisory capacity in the absence of the direct supervisor.

1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
