Who we are About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

We’re looking for someone to join our small—and extremely online—Community Communications team, which manages Stripe’s social media channels and fosters community among our users. We work closely with product managers, engineers, and program leads to augment launches and announcements, increase awareness of products and features, and tell the stories of the companies building on Stripe.

What you’ll do

We’re looking for a high-agency community-builder to further strengthen the network of startups and developers building on Stripe. The ideal candidate is allergic to #brands, feeling much more at home building authentic relationships with users, and creating scrappy demos to help them see and feel the power of our products. Day to day, the Community Comms Product/Developer lead will be responsible for enriching our network of startups and developers, keeping them keenly updated on what we’re building, and bringing their feedback and ideas back into Stripe to improve our products and processes.

Responsibilities
  • Write and execute strategies to amplify product news and announcements for our startup and developer community via social channels, primarily X.
  • Embed deep within that community, building trusted, long-term relationships with startups and developers.
  • Mine within Stripe for stories and nuggets likely to enhance awareness, understanding or rapport in our community.
  • Become a conduit for feedback and advice on our products, routing suggestions to the relevant teams within Stripe.
  • Create and commission social content (e.g. videos, GIFs, demos) that aid awareness and/or understanding of our products.
  • Conjure internet-breaking moments and artifacts to send the community wild and draw focus to specific products or programs.
  • Take accountability for iterative progress and improvement in all of the above.
Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in community building, social, or communications, preferably in tech
  • An extremely punchy social copywriter—with an ability to grasp the Stripe voice and tone
  • Experience writing for thoughtful, engaged, high agency audiences
  • Creative flair and an aversion to the hackneyed and obvious
  • A sharp eye for design
  • A passion for X and YouTube and an unusual interest in the intricacies of their cultures and dynamics
  • Exceptional judgment and ability to navigate ambiguity
  • You move with urgency; comfortable turning things around on tight timetables and pivoting quickly in response to new data
Preferred qualifications
  • An excellent understanding of Stripe's technology and the developer community we are building for
  • A basic or hobbyist understanding of coding
  • Already embedded in the startup and developer community on X
  • Highest quality bar of anyone you know when it comes to great writing, stories, and content
  • Your first instinct with new ideas or content is to test them with the people they reach
  • A track record of planning and running creative, complex, data-driven campaigns, plus experience working closely with marketing and design team
