ABOUT THE TEAM

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compliance Intern to join our Compliance Department. This position is ideal for a student who is passionate about regulatory research, law, life insurance, and technology. The Compliance Intern will primarily assist with researching new laws, regulations, and industry standards that may impact the company’s operations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Conduct thorough research on emerging laws, regulations, and industry standards applicable to the tech and life insurance industry, including data privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and consumer protection.

  • Prepare concise summaries and reports to communicate research findings to the Compliance team and other stakeholders.

  • Monitor and track regulatory developments at state and national levels, ensuring the company remains informed of changes.

  • Assist in updating internal compliance policies and procedures based on new regulatory requirements.

  • Support the Compliance team in identifying potential risks and proposing recommendations for mitigation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze information relevant to compliance initiatives.

  • Assist in maintaining documentation and records related to compliance activities.

  • Participate in compliance training and awareness programs, as required.

WHO YOU ARE
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Law, Political Science, Business, or a related field.

  • Strong interest in compliance, legal research, life insurance, and the technology sector.

  • Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.

  • Proficiency in Google Office Suite (Email, Docs, Sheets, Slides).

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Familiarity with key regulations impacting the insurance and technology industries, such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, GLBA, or AI governance frameworks.

  • Experience with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) or regulatory databases.

  • Basic understanding of risk management principles.

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • Hands-on experience in the dynamic field of compliance within the life insurance and technology industry.

  • Mentorship from experienced legal and compliance professionals, which may include the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer, Deputy General Counsel, and Chief Legal Officer.

  • Flexible work schedule to accommodate academic commitments.

  • Hybrid working environment out of our Dallas, TX HQ.

Location: 2700 Commerce Street, Suite 1000, Dallas, TX

Duration: 3-month summer internship

Compensation: $25/hour

Hours per week: ≤ 25
