We are seeking a Conflicts Analyst to join the Firm’s Conflicts Department. This role will assist with conflicts searching and clearances associated with new business intake, lateral hires and business development across the Firm. The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for assisting in the management of procedures related to new business for the firm and working closely with Conflicts Attorneys and other members of the team to facilitate the review, analysis, and processing of conflicts requests to identify legal and business-related issues with accepting new clients and matters under prevailing ethical rules, applicable law and internal policies.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and assist in the identification, resolution and clearance of potential and actual conflicts of interest in relation to new business intake, lateral legal personnel, new hires, and Business Development/Marketing initiatives.
  • Consult with Partners and Associates, Conflicts Attorneys, Director of Conflicts and General Counsel’s Office as necessary to facilitate clearance and approval on all potential and actual conflicts of interest.
  • Search, analyze, identify and report the existence of actual and potential conflicts of interest to requesting lawyer(s) and/or Firm personnel using a variety of conflict reporting and search tools.
  • Research, retrieve and sort entity relationship and key organizational personnel using entity affiliation/family tree platforms.
  • Generate and circulate conflicts and related reports for use throughout all levels of the Firm.
  • Assist with Know Your Client (“KYC”) functions, including researching, retrieving and sorting data relating to, among other things: fines, sanctions, political exposure/affiliation, adverse media, financial health and other screening considerations.
  • Integrate all findings with the Firm’s conflicts resolution systems, augmenting existing client/matter data.
  • Follow-up with appropriate lawyer(s) and/or Firm personnel as required to perform any and all above functions, including, but not limited to, obtaining conflicts clearances, waivers and engagement letters.
  • Assist in the implementation of Ethical Walls as necessary. 
  • Support the maintenance and coordination of overall workflow processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree; J.D. a plus.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated legal conflicts of interest researching, identification and resolution experience in the Conflicts Department of a major law firm or financial institution preferred.
  • Experience with InTapp Open/Conflicts and LegalKey highly preferred.
  • Experience in a major law firm or financial institution environment preferred. 
  • Experience with lateral conflicts clearances a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to use other industry standard office software applications including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Adobe, Filesite, Aderant (or similar platform), and other resources required. Internet research proficiency preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to research corporate ownership through public sources and related software like Capital IQ preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, follow through and complete time sensitive projects with minimal supervision in a fast-paced global law firm environment preferred. 
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written business communication skills necessary to interact with Partners, Counsel, Associates and other Firm personnel throughout the Firm’s international offices required. 
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical and organizational skills required. 

This position may require periodic physical presence in Proskauer’s offices as business needs require. The anticipated compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $95,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
