Role
- Trail of Bits is looking for an experienced Technical Editor with exceptional communication, writing, editing, and critical thinking skills. This position will be primarily focused on ensuring our clients receive clear and quality technical documentation to be used by both technical and non-technical users. The ideal candidate will:
- Manage all digital, video, audio and print content development for a global technical team of security researchers
- Edit, revise, contribute to and create technical documents as well as regularly re-review completed documentation to maintain accuracy and relevance
- Take complex or technical information and rewrite it to be actionable and easy to understand
- Create consistent content management principles and workflows for optimal productivity
- Self-manage communication and collaboration with technical project teams
- Deliver publications and reports on time in a fast-paced environment with many quick-turnaround projects
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and ensure quality and brand alignment across all platforms and content
- Lead writing, compilation and distribution of all blog posts, whitepapers, talk submissions, podcasts, publications and marketing collateral to reflect Trail of Bits’ brand and drive consistency
- Edit and finalize 3 - 15 technical client-facing reports per week, ensuring grammatical issues are resolved and corporate style guidelines apply
- Collaborate with consultant writers' across the organization to improve technical writing skills
- Provide internal one-on-one technical writing coaching sessions, develop supplemental writing resources, and other training material for consultants
- Keep a library of cybersecurity findings and research up-to-date, and provide the knowledge and language to customers in your content
- Improve technical editing workflow capabilities through strategy, analytics and tracking
- Assist with the training and mentorship of other internal editors and writers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred
- At least 3+ years of technical copy editing experience
- Content strategy experience is a plus
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to pass a writing test
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple workstreams
- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts
- Capacity to communicate effectively with people across diverse project teams
- Understanding of security threats and application security is a plus
- Experience with G Suite tools required
