Position Summary
We are looking for an exceptionally skilled and driven Conversational AI Engineering Leader. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in constructing and guiding dynamic, talented engineering teams. This role involves coaching and mentoring team members to ensure the delivery of top-tier products and services, specifically within the realms of voice and chat bots.

As a Lead Director you will:

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership across multiple conversational AI delivery teams, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.

  • Lead the delivery of comprehensive conversational AI solutions, emphasizing full-stack development (NodeJs, Python etc.), including the integration of Large Language Models (LLM) and orchestrated applications.

  • Ensure timely execution, quality outcomes, and measurable impact.

  • Build, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams of AI engineers and delivery managers. Foster a culture of technical innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Continuously evaluate and drive adoption of emerging technologies to enhance solution capabilities and maintain competitive advantage.

  • Collaborate with executive leadership across various business units to identify opportunities and communicate progress.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies. Champion best practices in AI and agile delivery.

  • Establish KPIs, governance models, and delivery frameworks to ensure scalability, compliance, and performance of AI solutions.

  • Identify opportunities for the Conversational Chatbot with a focus on customer experience optimization and ROI-driven AI solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with at least 5 years focused on cloud-native environments (IBM & Azure highly preferred) building, integrating, and deploying conversational AI solutions, including voice and chatbots.

  • 10+ years of experience translating complex technical solutions into strategic business outcomes.

  • 10+ years of experience with full stack development with languages such as Java, Python, React or Node.js.

  • 7+ years of experience as a delivery lead for large-scale AI or digital transformation programs working in a high-performance Agile environment.

  • 7+ years of experience deploying applications to the cloud, integrated with cloud technologies.

  • 7+ years of experience with open-source automation servers with either Jenkins or Octopus, or GitHub.

  • 7+ years of experience with API integration tools such as Postman, Swagger or similar tools. 

  • Strong understanding of conversational AI technologies (e.g., chatbots, voice assistants, LLMs, STT/TTS, NLU/NLP engines including techniques applying these technologies as delivery accelerators ), conversational designs, omni-channel delivery, backend orchestration, and CI/CD for AI models.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Executive-level communication skills, capable of effectively articulating technical and strategic concepts to multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience with IBM WatsonX and its suite of AI tools and services.

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, or a related field.

  • Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLM) and their practical applications in conversational AI.

  • Familiarity with SAFE agile methodologies and experience in leading agile teams.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$144,200.00 - $288,400.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
