Job Description:

We are seeking a Coordinator, Communications to support marketplace amplification for Disney Advertising across Sports, Addressable/Data and Measurement, and Entertainment. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who will play a key role in assisting the wider Communications team in drafting publicity materials, supporting outreach to national and local media outlets, and proactively contributing to amplifying the goals and objectives of the business. This role will focus on positioning Disney Advertising as a leader in the advertising marketplace and elevating its innovative capabilities and solutions through media relations, thought leadership initiatives, award submissions, internal communications, and more. Through strategic and effective storytelling and collaborations with key clients and industry constituents, executive spokespersons, and internal stakeholders, this candidate will help drive business results – supporting a holistic communications strategy for Disney Advertising’s growing advertising business.

This position is based in New York. The individual(s) will report to the Senior Manager, Communications and Director, Communications, respectively, based on business focus and work closely with the larger Communications team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Communications team with writing, developing, and executing long- and short-term publicity plans that elevate Disney Advertising.

  • Write and edit press materials – including releases, pitches, and talking points – and support outreach to media outlets.

  • Identify and proactively pitch Disney’s leadership for key industry events, thought leadership opportunities, and earned media stories.

  • Research, update, and maintain trade and business editorial, awards, and events calendars.

  • Help prepare and submit corporate and executive awards entries, while keeping the team apprised of timely upcoming opportunities for submission.

  • Conduct comprehensive research and vetting of industry conference and speaking opportunities.

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to plan, support logistics on, and execute Disney Advertising’s presence at events.

  • Build and maintain strong communication and relationships with internal departments including Sales, Client Solutions and Operations, Networks, Streaming and Technology PR teams.

  • Support Communications team with the development and distribution of press materials, key messages, Q&A documents, and identify unique and creative ways to disseminate news both through written word and visually.

  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, online influencers, and key internal stakeholders.

  • Help maintain clips and coverage database, while supporting overall reporting and tracking of key business announcements and earned media performance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience working in public relations and/or journalism and marketing communications.

  • Experience working in corporate communications, PR, journalism, or equivalent.

  • Strong verbal and writing skills, with demonstrated ability to deliver information effectively and rapidly to audiences and constituents both internally and externally, for a multi-business global company.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint & Excel.

  • Working knowledge of the media, streaming and advanced advertising space, and an interest and understanding of the data-driven marketing, technology, and addressable advertising spaces across Sports and Entertainment.

  • Prior experience working with multi-brand enterprises, and collaborating with teams across corporate functions, including executive support in media and communications, preferred.

  • Curiosity and a driven work ethic, with the ability to distill difficult, and at times complex subject matter, and make them easily translatable.

  • Experience working with senior-level leadership/executives and proactively pitching and/or finding opportunities for thought leadership moments for designated spokespeople, while supporting a bench of subject matter experts.

  • A “can-do” approach and attentive professional demeanor, in support of a fast-paced, dynamic, and high-stakes business.

  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience preparing media lists and conducting media research using Muckrack.

  • Strong grasp of social media tools and reporting a plus.

  • Experience with Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite and Canva a plus.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism, or Public Relations or equivalent work experience.

About Disney Advertising Corporate Communications Team: The Disney Advertising Corporate Communications team oversees communications strategy, operations, and business development for the Advertising division. This team is responsible for charting holistic, multi-platform communications tactics supported by operational research and insights and marketplace strategy capabilities. The group works hand-in-hand with sales, content, and digital leaders – along with the respective communications and business teams across the entire Disney portfolio – to drive growth and lead generation across all screens.

The hiring range for this position in 7 Hudson Square, New York is $68,400 to $91,700 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
