Job Overview: 

The Social & Editorial Copywriter will help communicate Bloomingdale’s distinct POV through fashion-forward storytelling across our social channels and editorial assets. Creative and strategic, this role combines strong writing skills, a deep understanding of fashion and luxury retail, and a nuanced understanding of how audiences engage with content across platforms. The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative, fashion-fluent writer who knows when to be concise, when to tell a story, and when to let an image speak for itself—a big ideas person with a precise eye for detail.


Essential Functions:

• Content creation: Collaborate with the Social Art Director and Social Manager to build the social calendar and generate engaging, platform-native posts that align with our business objectives, brand priorities, and cultural/fashion moments

• Social writing: Craft all captions, video hooks, voiceover/scripts, and partner/influencer talking points in a voice that shows fashion fluency and articulates Bloomingdale’s POV

• Community management: Engage our followers through thoughtful, timely, and brand-right interactions that strengthen the relationship between Bloomingdale’s and its customers

• Voice guardian: Maintain high standards for writing and proofreading across social and editorial channels. Partner with the Creative Director to develop and evolve channel-specific standards while ensuring consistency with the broader Bloomingdale’s voice

• Trends & learnings: Stay closely attuned to the social landscape, emerging formats,  cultural moments and conversations, and platform trends. Monitor content performance and translate learnings into stronger creative and copy approaches

• Editorial: Craft emails, site assets, catalog, and paid media that elevate Bloomingdale’s brand, clearly communicate our POV, and guide and inspire our customers

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

• Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university

• 5 years of relevant copywriting experience for a fashion, beauty, or luxury brand, or editorial platform

• Excellent writing and editing skills with a genuine love of language and storytelling

• Knowledge of luxury fashion, with an understanding of the designers, brands, trends, and conversations shaping the industry

• Expertise in current social trends, platform capabilities, and the cultural zeitgeist

• Keen understanding of copy needs by medium (digital media, catalog, email, homepage, etc.)

• Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically
